My bp got high in third tri but I never had pre-eclampsia. They monitored me VERY closely (fetal monitoring 2ce a week & growth scans & measuring fluid). High bp can cause issues with the placenta which can make your baby stop growing or not grow enough , also higher chance of placenta abruption they told me so if you have any bleeding at all make sure you go right in to emergency. If you have any vision changes, too much swelling, headaches, pain in your abdomen -call your midwife right away.

I was induced at 36+6 because of the high bp - and they had shown that with a growth scan that she wasnt growing well so better to get her out vs. risk leaving her in. She was born at 37 weeks weighed 5 lbs 14oz which is much bigger than they predicted & she was fine - no issues with me having the high bp.

Hard to rest with your other kids - but resting is REALLY important right now & might help you make it to term. I was told resting esp. on left side at different times during the day for like 1/2 hr each time. Limit your salt & try to limit your stress level as these will make your bp problem worse.

:hugs: Good luck to you!

i was induced at 37 weeks with high bp and pre-eclampsia. Baby weighed 6lbs 1oz and had no problems whatsoever.

Try not to worry, you're nearly at full term and if they are worried they will monitor you closely and try and get you to as near to your due date as possible.

i had highblood pressure at 40 weeks, i also had protein in my urine i was also sent to the daycare unit and they decided to induce me as there was a risk of pre eclampsia but i never even had it, and had a normal birth with lily weighing 7lb 10oz.
i wouldnt worry too much hun there just being carfeful.
the main signs are high blood pressure, protein in urine, seeing spots and very swollen hands and feet. i wouldnt worry to much if you only have high bp, and im sure your midwive will be keeping a close eye on you, and if they do think there could be a risk they will induce you before it gets serious.
dont worry hun :hugs: x

What was your BP last time it was measured?

It sounds like you are being monitored so if pre eclampsia develops, it should be picked up. Please try not too worry (easier said than done, I know), but get clued up on the symptoms so you know what to look out for. The main symptoms are:

visual disturbances
headaches
swelling - feet and hands especially
nausea
epigastric pain (pain in your abdomen just below your ribs)

If any of these develop, then call your midwife to get your BP checked.

If you do develop pre eclampsia, then the only cure is to deliver the baby. The route to the baby being born is very much dependent on the individual so noone here can tell you definitely what would happen next. Best to discuss with your midwife and/or doctor.

Lots of us have had pre eclampsia and had healthy babies so please try not to worry.

I had high BP from 34 weeks with DD and it wasnt pre-eclampsia, they monitored it and then induced me at 40+1 to prevent it becoming an issue.

Hope all is well x

I actually got really high BP when I went into labour but tests showed it wasn't preeclampsia. They gave me a yellow tablet a few times during labour and after I had my baby girl, my BP went straight back down. She was 6lb4oz at 39+1 and perfect. So odd!

Anyway try and not worry X

mw came to check me today my blood test came back within normal limits n my bp has dropped almost back to normal hopefully it was just a blip n will stay down im nearly there 4 more weeks to go hopefully it will stay that way till bubs is here
