So, before my hubby went in for his 1st VR, his doc requested a blood draw from me to test my FSH level to make sure all was OK... and he said it was (although I never got to see the specific results). Since then my hubby went through another VR and found out all is excellent with him now... yay!

But recently I went in to have additional bloods done, and my doc also ordered the FSH levels again... which I assumed would be fine as I'd already been told they were. I was just doing my due diligents.

BUT- I was told my level was 14 (which is high- it should be under 10). So now I'm very confused... could it have changed that much in a year? Could it be wrong? Could my first draw have been OK and been around 14 also?

I'm currently trying to get the actual # from my first result- since I'd like to see what was originally considered "good".... but now I'm a bit worried. There is SO much info on the internet- and a lot says at that level we'll have trouble conceiving... ugh.

Anyone else have higher levels and have a specialist say all was OK? We are going to go see a specialist, just to be on the safe side... but after all we've been through in the past year I was not expecting that news...

UPDATE:

I got the level from last year and it was 6.8- so well within the normal range... I'm just not sure why it would vary this much in a year????

Ah confusion... guess I'll have to wait to see what the specialist says next Friday?

Hi

I had my FSH tested in June by my first doc and told all was ok as it was 6.1 and I felt great. When I changed docs in September I had the test done again and it came out at 4.3 and I was overjoyed. The new doc told me that the result could not be counted as my estradiol was too high which suppressed the FSH and ordered an AMH test. This ended up coming out on the low side which indicates a lower egg reserve than expected for my age. I am glad that I know this as it means we have to make a real effort now and not leave it any longer.

If I were you I would ask to see your estradiol levels also and if they are high then get the AMH test done as this is considered a better marker for egg reserves. That in mind they are just indicators as there are people on here who had really low AMH numbers and still concieved.

Just remember that miracles do happen and more frequently than doctors would like you to believe.

Good luck :hugs:

Thanks hun! I'll add that to the list of questions I have when we go see the specialist next week!!! lol. I need some answers ya know?

Quick ?: Is Estradiol Estrogen? lol... I think I saw 'Estradiol' on my blood work report and my doc said my estrogen level was fine... seems like Estradiol is part of what makes up Estrogen- but online is confusing! lol.

Best of luck to you!
