I have had tests done and my protein levels are higher than they should be.
I rang the midwife who told me that I'm going to have to do more tests, but does anybody know what it means and if I have tobe more careful of what I eat, or something?
It hasn't happened to me in my previous pregnancies, so I really don't know what I'm meant to do.

I have it too, I've not been told anything yet other than "it might be pre eclampsia so we need to keep an eye on it". Seeing midwife for another urine check on Friday. They will be monitoring me every week for elevated blood pressure etc as protein in urine can be a sign of pre eclampsia.

Try not to worry, when do you see your care provider next?

I'm going to see the midwife again tomorrow, just so as she can give me the prescription for the further tests. Other than that, I have a scan scheduled on the 12th of april I think, so I'll see a doctor then.
Can that give you contractions, because Ithink I have been able to feel some today (I know it sounds strange, but I just can't feel them, I found that during my last pregnancy). I took medicine to try and stop them and I don't think I've had any since, but I wondered if it could be linked.

I'm not sure Rel, that sounds more like Braxton Hicks contractions, they cause your tummy to go hard but not really painful.
But if you've had similar before, I'd mention it to your midwife either via phone call or tomorrow.

No protein in your urine will not give you contractions. Like the PP said before the biggest worry about protein is pre-clampsia. Keep an eye on your blood pressure and go to the hospital if you suddenly have severe pain on your right side when you lie down or have blurry vision.

I'm afraid I cannot tell the difference between BH and real contractions, even though I've had 2 kids. They found out that I had contractions when putting me on monitoring and I could hardly feel them, so I get a bit more worried when I feel something because I just don't know. However, if I only feel one, I let it go but I start wondering when I feel several of them. I think I may mention it tomorrow if I get a chance.
Thanks again!

I have had pains on my right side when lying on it, but it goes away fairly quickly, I didn't know it was something to worry about, just one of those things with baby pushing on nerves and stuff.

I'd be tempted to advise you to call your labour ward and get some advice, simply because you cant tell if you're having contractions etc, get them to monitor you then the best thing will be if all is fine. Bt you don't want to be ignoring any possible early labour symptoms xxx
