High risk downs result and scared

Hi im only 33yrs young and my blood screening test for downs came back at 1:28, the neck reading was 2.5mm me and my hubby are in shock ive not slept well for a week and spend most of my time thinking about it and randomly bursting into tears, we have decided to take up the amnio next week which was a very hard decision to make and it took au a week to decide but I need to know as I would go mad worring for another 24 weeks

Just wondering if anyone else has had an amnio done and what was your experience of it , thanks

i had one due to a nt measurement of 9.5mm! which put me in high risk at 1:6 or something, had the amnio which i'd actually took my mum and not my oh because i didn't want him to see me in pain lol and to be honest for me I didn't feel a thing! wasn't even as bad as a blood test! I did not suffer with cramps etc after.
my results all came back negative

I had a 1-50 chance of having a bay with DS after scan of 3.5 mm and bloods .... we didnt have the amnio but my little girl was born perfect x

I'm 31 and I had a 1:58 chance and opted to not have an amnio or CVS. My DS was born perfect! Good Luck!

Well, my results came back as ridiculously low risk, my son was born with Downs Syndrome, completely unexpectedly and guess what?! He's perfect too...

Having a child with Downs is different (I have two older boys, neither of whom have Downs) but there's nothing 'wrong' with it. You won't struggle to cope, you won't find it harder than a child without Downs, in fact, you may well find it easier, my youngest son slept through the night from birth and I had to wake him for every single feed. What is hard about it is when people do not celebrate the birth, they say they are 'sorry', but that is easy to get over really.

If I had another child with Downs it wouldn't matter one jot. By all means, have the amnio, but pplease don't think Downs is some big, awful monster.

(oh, and I was 27 when I had my youngest, I am almost 34 now)

That's Great!!! That's what I decided to do and since I didn't want anyone to persuade me otherwise I didn't even tell anyone about my risk, not even my OH. and good luck to you!

I'm 33 and pregnant with my 2nd baby, I have been given 1:129 chance of downs due to my blood results, scan was fine tho. Had amnio weds with no probs at all, it didn't even hurt. Am expecting reults back thurs or Fri next week and am terrified of resutls. I keep thinking the worst. My little girl is 18 months and perfect. I just want this to all go away but i know i have to face it, i know exactly how you feel guess we have to try and keep positive.
