Hello ladies

I am 31 and we have been ttc for a year now. I am just starting today on levothyroxine as my tsh level was 8.11. It was 4.84 back in may and when my dr did blood work in august it was at 8.11. She did not know why it spiked and sent me to an endo dr, who decided she didnt need to see me and just sent my dr some advice on what to do for me. So my dr has now put me on 50mcg of the thyroid meds hoping to bring my levels down. I go for blood work in 6 weeks to see what the drug has done for me. usually she does not treat people whos tsh range is between 5-10 as thats not high enough to warrant meds, but since i am ttc she says she will treat me for it (i also dont have alot of hypothyroid symptoms..just tired mainly) she said the optimum tsh level for conceiving is 0.35-3.5..so even back in may i was not in the optimal range.. but closer than i am now.

What i was wondering is if any of you ladies have had high tsh levels and still conceived? or has anyone been in my situation or a similiar one and still conceived after taking meds to lower their tsh?

We will be sent to the fertility clinic hopefully soon (dh has a drs app end of sept to get a semen analysis done) so hopeuflly we wont have to wait too much longer after that to get a referral from my dr for the fertility clinic.

Sorry I can't help I'm going for testing today. Did your dr say your thyroid was swollen when the levels increased?

no, she didnt say anything about it being swollen...we only found out about my thyroid through some routine blood work. I go Tues for my fertility specialist consult

I found out I had Hashimotos (hypothyroidism) when I was 20. I worried and was told it could make conceiving a bit harder, since your thyroid helps regulate your hormones. I was however able to get pregnant with my DD by complete accident. When you first conceive, your child lives off your thyroid, so you have to have your meds upped a bit. My TSH was 9 when I found out I was pregnant and it worried me to death, but I went on to have a happy healthy baby. As long as you can keep your levels in the right range you can conceive and have just as healthy of a pregnancy as anyone else. Be advised though that it does slightly raise your risk for MC so you may wait to tell others when you get that BFP.
