Anyone else had a really mixed week? Bit of background. I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old who was born deaf unfortunately. Besides the deafness thing(we are being positive but it's hard sometimes) she is doing well.

So here are my highs and lows:
Highs
My 2 year old has been really sweet with her sister, and even helps with her hearing aids

My youngest is not quite as grumpy
Managed to put the baby down in her cot a few times! Yay
We ve had a few poos in the potty
My youngest can roll, move the walker and back hump
My baby is making new sounds. This is great!

The lows:
2 year old tantrums!
Fussing over the bottle!
Food fussiness with the 2 year old(sod it then - live on toast and berries!)
Still not showing many signs of sleeping through (yawn)
Endless appointments to do with my baby's hearing issue
Having no patience and daily shouting/screaming at my 2 year old

Anyone else want to share?

I went to a primary school for a couple of years which had a special department for deaf children and they were honestly treated just like everyone else. They all could lip-read so it wasn't hard to include them in play, and we had little lessons in sign language - I can still sign the alphabet, and remember the signs for stuff like 'please', 'thank you', 'beautiful' and 'quiet'. It was a really lovely time in my life, to be honest.

Our highs this week: My ten-month old has finally mastered her sippy cup and can regulate the amount of water she takes without getting it wrong and spluttering all over the place! She now balances alone for up to twenty seconds, took two very wobbly steps and seems to be understanding more and more in the way of words and questions - 'Where's the dog?' etc.

Our lows: My baby was born with a posterior tongue tie that wasn't identified and treated until she was almost five months old - she seems to have recently realised that she has a tongue but as yet does not stick it out straight. When it comes out of her mouth, it's always to the left, or occasionally the right. Being the worrier I am, I'm concerned that she can't stick it out straight and she will have speech issues or eating issues when she moves on to more adult food, but only time will tell I guess!

This is a great idea :)

Highs: My 4yr old had her sports day at nursery. She had loads of fun and loved doing all of the different activities.
My 20 month old and I went for a walk before bed last night, for about 45 minutes. It was lovely spending time with just her. (Very rarely get 1 ti 1 with her.)
My 7 month old cruised a few steps along the sofa, can pull herself up and has mastered how to use a sippy cup.

Lows: My 4yr old has been such a moan. So has my 1.5yr old. So has my 7mth old. Hooray.... Oh, also been up at 5am every morning with the baby, yawn!

Highs: my baby girl taking her first steps.
Lows: my last week of maternity leave before I go back to work on Monday

Really nice reading highs/lows. Sometimes it's easy to put pressure on ourselves. Especially when you meet mums that seem to have it sorted - the baby that sleeps, that isn't clingy, the 2 year old that doesn't tantrum and eats!

This thread reminds me that " you win some you lose some " and to not beat myself up over getting everything right.

I know one like that! She drives me insane and makes me feel like a failure at the same time. I think most of what she claims is probably bollocks though ...

Great idea!

The highs:
My 8 month old has started waving and saying dada
My DH and I won $700 at the casino last night!
Today is Saturday and I got to spend all day with my LO!

Lows:
LO has been refusing the bottle lately
He will not be out of my sight for more than 3 seconds
No sign of sleeping through the night in sight
No sign of any attempt of crawling

Nice to read others' experiences :)

Highs: My now 8 week old has started giving us some lovely smiles, and is sleeping really well, just waking once in the early hours for a quick feed.
We've been on half term week and my DH also gets holidays off so we have been on some really nice days out and enjoyed spending family time.

Lows:
My four and five year old frequently don't listen to a word I say and unless I am yelling at them, seem to ignore me most of the time. This has resulted in a lot more yelling than I would like!
My baby is fussy in the evenings which normally would be fine, but as I've taken on some work from home evenings is the only time I get to do it - so it isn't getting done!

Great thread!

Highs - my 11 month old is cruising confidently and less clingy than she was so I can get some things done
We had a great family day out yesterday

Lows - she is jut recovering from hand foot and mouth disease, with an ear infection and then a cold ontop. It was a hard week!

I know this is older, but a great idea!

Highs - My 5 month old started pulling himself around to get where he wants to go (not quite crawling but very very close!). My family is visiting and we have had some nice walks together and I've been getting a bit of a break since everyone wants a turn holding LO.

Lows: My 2 cats have been waking me up at 3:30 every morning and making messes outside of their litter boxes. I'm stressed about LO crawling around in their poop which gets strewn about the floor and although I love my kitties, I think it may be time to re home :(

Ahhh it feels good thinking back on some positives!

Great thread!

High
Being hugged by my 8 month old, best feeling I've had so far being a mum, and makes everything better.

Low
Feeling like a failure when I have to do it cry it out at nap times, it's the only way she naps and i never leave her distressed crying (only the grumpy protest cries) but when people don't agree with cio they REALLY don't agree with it!

Ignore parents who make it look like they have everything sussed, I'm sure it's just they're using the equivalent of an instagram filter on their life!
