Yesterday Aoife was diagnosed with dysplasia in her right hip and has been put in a harness to try and help. The hospital were great in explaining how it works and how to change clothes/nappies etc but I'm really struggling with how to make her comfortable! She hates laying down on her back and likes to be on an angle either in her bouncer chair or we have one of those blow up ring things, I have tried her in these but she looks so uncomfortable I worry that I'm doing more harm than good! I'm handling her like she's only just been born and I'm scared when cuddling her that I might hurt her. Is there anyone else who has been or is going through this treatment that can offer any advice?? Thanks muchly xx

Hi there, both my sons had hip dysplasia and harnesses. We got a child's bean bag and used that to support the boys (took some of the beans out). They could be sat on an angle and the bean bag moulded round the harness and their legs. This really helped Ds2 as he wasn't keen on being on his back due to his reflux.

Both boys adapted really well with their harnesses and didn't seem to be bothered at all. They are now 4 and 2 and have perfect hips. Hopefully your lo will be out of hers soon.
