Holiday pay question.

I'm hoping someone can help. My husband took 4 days off work last week as we had inlaws visiting. As he had used up all his summer holiday entitlement he had to use his winter holidays. At the time he didn't know when booking it but he won't get payed for the holiday until winter comes or at least he thinks thats what will happen. In which case we are going to be struggling for money from now until Christmas as we have 2 birthdays coming up (this month and next month) and then christmas on top of bills and we cannot afford to lose out on a weeks wage

Any ideas if he will be able to get the holiday pay? Or will we have to wait.

I'm so annoyed about it as this past year we have been so careful with money and now I'm going to be having to watch every single penny and I hate doing that as it means it effects our children (though he seems to think they are spoilt and told me thats life) grrr men!!!! x

I think it would depend on his individual works policy. I've never heard of summer and winter holidays I'm afraid (here you have holiday entitlement which lasts the tax year so April - April) but if I took all of my leave entitlement then took more then I wouldn't get paid as I'd used all of my allocated holiday.

I'd get him to check his policy with hr, if that's they case then no he wouldn't be able to get the money.

i have never heard of summer and winter holidays either. dh gets allocated holiday of 5 weeks a year BUT he can swap the dtaes around to suit us, where possible (can never usually get summer when kids are off lol) - if he changes his holidays he gets holiday pay when off. if they wont give holiday pay until the week he was actually due to take his holiday, they should then pay him as normal for the week he has been off. otherwise he wouds be paid and get holiday pay when his holiday would have taken place
