Im thinking of booking a holiday for a week in the summer, the thing is im scared of telling the FOB im taking LO, im scared he will tell me i cant, or demand to take her away. He scares me so its putting me off going.
Do you think im best leaving it?

You can take LO away without FOB's permission for up too 3 weeks abroad (im pretty sure its 3 weeks) so he cant stop you going. If you are worried, i would just text him and say 'would you like to have LO an extra day in the week of august because i am taking LO away on holiday that week' and see what he says. If he threatens you and says you cant take her, you know otherwise, and make sure you tell him that x

my friend nd his ex each have 2 weeks (either together or in 2x1 week) where they have their lo to themselves... so ask him if he'd like to take her away himself...?
then he has no reason to be upset... but discuss it before u book it cos if u don't he could decide to be an arse.

He can't stop you from taking her. I have taken LO to Florida for 2 weeks and Wales for 1 week. Course FOB didn't like it but tough, we aren't going to stop living our lives to keep him happy. You can take your LO away for up to 3 weeks without FOB's permission

Yeh im worried about the same thing.. But look wot everyone else has said, so do it if u want to hun Im worried bout how 2 get the passport though as does FOB have to sign it? He won't b able to take her abroad neway as he wont have her passport, also from wot ive read in ur previous posts I dont think he'd b capable to look after her if he took her away! x

You don't need his signature on LO's passport, if I remember rightly you have to put his details on the form but only need one signature

You should also get LO's passport sooner rather than later, because just as you can get LO's passport with only your signature, so can he without yours (if he is on the BC), and then you will have to ask him for LO's passport.

No you don't. But he can get his own passport because he can sign it himself without your permission so ideally you need to get one asap before he gets in there first because I doubt that if he did get her a passport first he would allow you to use it and obviously nobody is allowed to have 2 passports.

In regards to him getting the BC, if he is a named parent on the BC I think he can go to the local registration office and ask for a copy, so long as he is on it.

He cannot get a copy of the birth certificate without mums permission regardless of whether he is on the birth certificate or not. When you get a passport make sure you call them and tell them you are the only one to be given any information and you are the only one who can apply.

You can get a copy of anyones BC if you want too
My friends mum is always down the registry office getting copies of peoples BC because she is trying to trace members of her family. And im pretty sure i read on here ages ago, that a member on here got a solicitors letter through her door with a copy of LO's BC attached as proof, so her FOB managed to get it ok. Dont no if i made any sense there! lol

But yeah, all FOB has to do is get a copy of LO's BC, then go and get their passport, so it is best that you get it first.

And like AB said, you dont have to get FOB to sign it to get LO's passport

zanes passport only took a week to come thru using the post office service and was around £50
