I started a thread in General yesterday, but thought it be a good idea to start a group for those who are doing some home decorating.

We moved into our rental property last March and have been meaning to paint since but come New Years, I got fed up. So our living room is now painted (after Chase goes to sleep for the night).

This is before...GAG!

And now:

I need to put some family pics up on the walls and get an abstract painting that is neutral but perhaps has a splash of burgundy in it to go over that one sofa.

The pillows that have a pattern that are on the sofa will be changed. I was thinking pillows in an ivory color and what else? Any suggestions?

Sheers also need to be put on the windows. And our end tables need to be changed. These were bought when Jayden and Amanda were little. We did have some lovely glass ones. LOL

And another thing is that the bunch of shelves behind the other couch are going to be stained black.

I also painted our bathroom last night. I didn't take any before pics. I truly don't know what the last renters were thinking though. One wall was chocolate brown, another a light beige, and the wall where the shower is was lime green. BLECH!

We painted it the same color as the livingroom. This is the bathroom:

Any ideas of what color theme for towels?

awww looks lovely om moving in 3weeks and cant wait to get painting all the falls are just painted white just now but not got a clue what to do so any ideas are welcome xxx

The one thing I don't like about white is it shows dirt easy (and with kids you are constantly cleaning) and it shows any nicks and scratches easy.

You will have to take pics and show what your furniture is like and perhaps can give ideas :)

I've noted that for dark brown or brown in general the best colors for the walls are very light colors and ones in neutral...beige, ivory, etc. etc.

Anything else just looks terrible and makes a room look very drab.

LOL about being excited for painting. I actually used to hate it but this time around I am somewhat enjoying it. Strange. Would love to see what you will be doing!

Well we have lived in a rented property since March 2009 and have now just brought some paint lol our WHOLE house is magnolia lol so going to add some "chocolate" brown under the dado?? in the living hoping it ill look good the living room is only small but i need some color lol

Hi
We need to decorate the whole of our downstairs. But first of all we need to take up the cream carpet that runs right through from the hall through to the living room. What with a 3 yr old and a big dog, its always getting filthy, so i think the best bet is to get some laminate put down, so that will be the first on the list of things to do. Hopefully we will do that next month.
Im thinking of going lime green, choc and cream. Seen some lovely paper in B&Q, so gonna do a feature wall with it.
will post pics when we do it!!

Love to see pics when you are done!

We painted the hallway last night and was up til 2:30 a.m. Afterall, it's a bit difficult to paint when a 16 month old is running around so we have to do it when he's in bed for the night.

Not completed and now it looks like one wall on the left needs to be repainted. UGH! I also bought the wrong kind of paint to do the doors and trims. :dohh:

However, it's going to have to wait until next weekend perhaps.

Next stop is the kitchen, a next weekend project too!

Wow Leeanne, you guys are going for it!!!
