I had a follow up appointment with the gyns who did my erpc on Tuesday. He told me something that I thought I would share with you.

In the 1980s Liverpool University conducted a study in to miscarriage and concluded that you were more likely to miscarry again in the first 6 months after a miscarriage. Over night this became the advise that doctors and specialists handed out and some still do. However it has been completely disproven now and there is no physical reason not to start trying again straight away. That isn't to say you won't miscarry again as no one can guarantee that, but you're not more likely to if you get pregnant again straight away.

Doctors will seldom be able to answer the 2 questions you want answering most... Why did it happen and how can I stop it happening again? But I hope this piece of information will be of use to you.

And actually, you are much more fertile immediately afterwards anyway - many people suggest to wait simply because it's easier to date you afterwards.

Thanks for sharing this info.. my doctor told me to wait 6 months.. and then 3 months.. so this makes me feel alot better for NOT preventing

My DR told me about that study, and how it was disproven BUT, he did say that a woman is MORE likely to m/c if she has had surgery for an ectopic, or a D&C. I never did, so we tried straight away, but just something to keep in mind if you have had a D&C or an ectopic.
