I was just wondering if anybody can tell me wether PROM can cause you to have a placental abruption? Havent seen consultant yet,but ive been going over and over in my head, wether i missed something that could have caused my placental abruption. Something they didnt pick up,that could have saved my little boy.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks girls....hope you are all well.

Sorry hun, don't know what PROM is. I hope you get some answers.

This is what i found when searchin for you not sure if it helps

There is no known precise explanation as to the mechanism of abruptio placenta. But there are a number of identifiable factors that will raise the woman’s risk for abruptio placenta. This includes the following: previous history of abruptio placenta, maternal hypertension, maternal trauma (injury to the uterus like in car accident), smoking during pregnancy, maternal cocaine abuse, premature rupture of membranes especially when there is co-existing uterine infection, and having a uterine scar from a past surgery where the placenta has unfortunately attached to.

I do hope u get answers soon takecare xxx

I have done a lot of internet searching about abruption because I have also had a concealed abuption. I have never read that PROM can cause abruption - did you have ruptured membranes prior to the abuption?
I have recently been to see the consultant for results of my abuptions - answer was 'no known reason'.
:hugs:

I did go for scan about 33 weeks, because i thought that id had a hindwater leak. The scan didnt showed that my waters were average,so i asume that would be normal. Was in hospital not long after that again, week before all this happened, saying i didnt feel well, sick, tired and just off. Did swabs for infection and did urine test, but never tested to see if i was leaking waters. I still mentioned to them and mw that i was sure i was leaking something and it didnt feel right,as my pads were very damp. Wasnt normal discharge. Ive had two boys before this so i knew something didnt feel right. They didnt listen, was fobbed off.

Why do doctors not listen to us when we tell them something isn't right?? I mean we know our bodies and when something doesnt seem right!
Hope you dont mind me sharing what happened to me and how my Dr's didnt listen to me either..

I went to the Dr's on my 17week and told them I don't feel the baby move as much as I felt my 1st 2 pregnancy at this point on. Doctor told me it was my placenta being in the way so I wouldn't feel them as much at this point. So I just thought OK this is what my Dr is telling me I guess he knows.
They did a scan and told me everything was fine, baby looked good. I found out we were having a girl!

About a week later I started to get cramps (braxton hicks) so I just put that off cause they weren't regular or coming often. On November the 15 2008 I called the Dr and told the nurse I didn't feel well was having Diarrhea (Sorry TMI) and just tired. I knew something wasn't right. Still wasn't feeling the baby (I couldn't tell whether it was baby or gas) and she said to put my feet up and come in if I see bleeding or my cramping comes to regular. They set me up a anatomy appointment on the 18th and that's when we found out she was gone. I was 19wks+5days.

They did 4 scans during this pregnancy did not say anything was wrong or looked different. But after I gave birth to Rebecca they tell me it was a genetic disorder ,her legs were not proportionate to the rest of her body.
YOU COULDNT SEE THIS IN THE 4 scans you did:hissy:!! I just have lost faith in the medical professionals it is unbelievable.

I am so sorry that they didnt listen to you. Or any of us that knew something wasnt right

I hope you find some answers soon Natasja:hugs:
I am thinking of you.

Aw sweetie,im so sorry. I just get so angry when they just fob you off and make you feel like you wasting their time. I have alot of question for my consultant, and will be getting a copy of my notes from the hospital. Everything i had told them, was written down, and just ignored and put down to me just being paranoid. I am bloody paranoid now,as placental abruption is rare, and chances increase when you have had one already. I want to have another baby at some point, but im scared and like you have lost faith in the medical professionals. And when we do get pregnant again, they will have to drag me out kicking and screaming. No one knows our bodies better than we do. Im so sorry for your loss sweetie. Thinking of you:hug:

Im so sorry for the loss of your little girl. Im just absolutely beside myself with fear that this will happen again, even with extra care. Dont know if i can go through losing another baby. The urge to have another baby is just so overwhelming. Bodhi was supose to be our last. I did say to husband that he will always be with us,but our family doesnt feel complete now.

Your family will never feel complete now hunni - there will always be one person missing no matter how many children you have. I do understand the urge to have another baby though. Nobody can guarantee anything. I have had different problems with all my pregnancies! 10% of people will have further abruptions - which means 90% won't! :hugs:
