Basically as title states I've been so so sick. Vomiting and TMI horrible straight liquid poo. I vomited so hard every 5-15 minutes last night even when nothing would come up. My cheeks are all bruised and my eyes blood shot! I finally got zofran around 3:30 after calling my dr. She told me I needed to stay hydrated and monitor baby's movements. I'm wondering what are the chances of this hurting baby? I couldn't bear it if something happened to her! Can I get checked to see if it is something scary like listeria or EcolI or something?

I keep reading all these horror stories of still birth or preterm labor from these things!

From my understanding is that it's dehydration that can cause issues for the baby hence the 'monitor baby movements'. A close friend of mine had the stomach flu same symptoms as you and lost 8lbs in 2 days...so so sick from both ends, she was around 30 weeks when she got sick. It worked its way through her system and baby was totally fine....she's now a healthy active 4 yr old;)

If you're really concerned you can go into the hospital to get checked and they will put you and IV drip to rehydrate you.
praying all is ok...if your urine is really dark and scant and your having dizzy spells it means you're dehydrated...just monitor and don't hesitate to go in to be checked.
Hugs mama!!

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I ended up with horrible food poisoning. I couldn't keep anything down, including water. I went to the hospital and the emergency doctor basically told me that as long as I continued to try and put water in my body, my stomach was going to attack it thinking it was something bad. He told me to let my stomach rest overnight (nothing to drink for about 8-12 hours) then try taking sips of water. If it stayed down, then it was safer to increase the amount. He said the baby takes what it needs from you, but it won't affect baby if you can shorten the amount of time you are ill.

We've used this advice for all of times we have been sick (All of us)... don't try to push fluids because it will cause your stomach to react. Let it rest overnight (or for a good number of hours) and then start with sips of water. It works like a charm.

Adding: I lost five pounds from that episode, but once I explained what happened to my OB, she agreed that the way we tackled it was best.

I would probably go to the ER and ask for testing. That seems severe. You can say you are concerned about listeria and such.
I had Salmonella before from take out Chicken and it sounds similar.

Its only lasted about 12 hours, I was able to drink after the zofran and had some broth yesterday. Today I'm almost back to normal, just a little weak! So I'll talk to my dr today (anatomy scan today) and let her know I'm worried about listeria or the bad things)

I had sickness and diahrrea when i was about 5 weeks pregnant, i was sick all night and the heaving was hurting my stomach i was so worried as i could barely eat or drink for 24 hours after, but everything was fine with the baby.

Baby will be just fine but like your Dr said drink plenty of fluids!

I had really horrible food poisoning with my first and his absolutely fine. Get well soon X

I've just got over something that sounds very similar - I felt so ill and lost 4kg in a few days through being sick and toilet. I was concerned and had a private scan today and the baby was perfectly fine.

Just keep up your liquids - I added a rehydrating powder to water to put back salts and sugars in my body.

I had my dr appointment today! I talked to the dr about my food poisoning and she was very reassuring. She said if it was any of the bad things I wouldn't bounce back in a day, I'd be sick for many days! So that was good to hear. I'm back to normal today except my appetite hasn't returned 100%, but I'm well hydrated!!

I've caught a nasty stomach flu every pregnancy. The kind that's so violent for 12 hrs that it comes out of every hole tmi...baby is completely unaffected trust me, it's you that suffers. As far as dehydration goes, have your DH pick up some Gatorade and drink a few sips often you should be fine!

I believe I had the norovirus a few weeks before Christmas. I wouldn't stop throwing up for almost 12 hours and had bad diarrhea too. I ended up having to go to the ER for an IV because I couldn't keep even little sips of water down. Baby was totally fine though and I felt better after a day or two.
