Hospital Bag and getting things ready!

You know how u said to take plastic bags, would nappy sacks do the same sorta thing there just a plastic bag arnt they
i dont even know if u need to take nappy sacks tbh but the pack is only thin so i suppose they might come in useful for something !

haha leonie.. i think she meant a bag to put your dirty, smelly clothes in :) and baba's.. :haha: (i think she meant just like a plain old tesco's bag or something, just to keep the dirty stuff away from clean stuff)

i'm not sure nappy bags would be big enough - but worth taking for smelly nappies!!
xxxx

ive never even seen a nappy sack so i havent a clue
i kinda imagined some sort of santa sack type thing PMSL!!
maby i'll just take some of my collection of asda bags then!!

i think i need to go & open these nappy sacks and see what they actually are
i dont know what i expected tbh but in that case plastic bags it is

haha yeahh, AND nappy sacks.. don't want loadsa stinky nappy's in the hospital!! :)
xxx

:D they are just little plastic bags, very thin, and smell pretty (well better than pooey nappies) normally orange or blue!

 haha it sure won't i can imagine you tryna get your clothes in them though LMAO!

and hahahaha!! :haha: cause that wouldn't get you funny looks..
sniffing your nappy bags :winkwink: Whatever floats your boat i guess? :)

Dont take alot, honestly. I took a stupid amount of stuff with me to the hospital and didnt need half of it. And if you made several trips to the hospital like I did before you were finally admitted in for good, it will just be a hassle.

I'd say -

Labour bag -
Nightie x 2 (dark coloured, baggy, buttoned down the front if you want to BF - one for during labour and one for afterwards)
Slippers
Light dressing gown (it's hot in there but if you want to walk around the ward you might want to cover up)

Lipbalm
Shower gel (I went for a bath afterwards in my delivery room, but it was so bloody that I didnt hang about I just washed myself and got out)
Shampoo and conditioner (I didnt wash my hair if Im honest, too exhausted)
A pack of the thick mattress-like maternity pads
Nursing bra and bra pads
Face wipes
Towel

Plenty of cold drinks and straws.
Sweets for the start of labour, but I doubt you'll be hungry when it gets really painful.
Something filling to eat after you give birth - packet sandwiches, crisps etc. (I hadn't eaten for a good 12 hours and afterwards I was starving and all they gave me was a slice of toast.)

Camera

After labour -
Another nightie, or pj's (incase you bleed onto the first two like I did)
Comfortable pants x 4
Another pack of the thick maternity pads
Another nursing bra and more pads
Nipple cream
Face wipes
Toothbrush + toothpaste
Deodrant

Some cordial to put in the water they give you (I was put on the post natal ward at night time and all I had was a jug of water and a bed)
- and/or bottles/cartons of juice

Sweets, chocolate, crisps (wasn't fed till the next morning) for energy.

Magazines, a book, a notepad and pen.

A bag to take home all of the free stuff they give you.

A thank you card for the ward (it's just nice).

Going home outfit (make sure it's baggy and flattering, your belly looks like it's melted straight after you give birth)
Coat (you'll notice the difference in temperature when you leave the hospital, it'll seem freezing outside)

A list of phone numbers and change - although there wasnt a payphone on the ward and everyone used their mobiles.

For baby -

nappies x 10
pack of wipes and some cotton wool
nappy bags x 10
vests x 4 (2 in newborn, 2 in 0-3)
sleepsuits x 4 (again, newborn and 0-3)
^ my baby pooed through her first vest and sleepsuit
going home outfit
snowsuit or coat
blanket
car seat

Dont bother with toiletries - they wont have a sore bum just yet and you wont need to wash them

- I wouldnt bother bringing OH anything. They have to go home if you stay overnight anyway. If you want to bring something, I'd say just spare pants and socks and deodrant.

I can't help as havent packed mine yet as only 15weeks. Can't wait to be able to pack my own got ages yet though :(

there is no harm in packing it early

yes there is early and early its just im waiting for so many things so is even slower. Im waiting for all these
My 20weeks scan
my 18th birthday
end of my a level exams so i can have a break
my wedding
so it makes it all feel like its going even slower when does it speed up?

OMG ARRGGH im going to have a baby!!! how do i know what to do?? I've never even held a newborn let alone changed a nappy.

I'd like to say my bags are packed and I'm organised but I'm not. Bags have the essentials in them. But I want to buy a colouring pad, some pencils and a notebook... I am THE most impatient person ever. Plus if colouring keeps me occupied it'll mean I'm not driving my OH and mum up the wall. :) I'm so considerate haha.

I still need to pick up the crib from my cousins, get the pram from my OH's parents, finish painting Summer's room and I think that's it. I HOPE that's it.

Better get moving :) xx

Just to say it's worth packing a bog early with your things in even if its just a toilet bag and some pj's just in case you end up having to go into hospital like i did, i was soo glad id already packed a bag !
