Hey ladies when is everyone starting their hospital bags xx

Good question! It can't hurt to get things together earlier, but I'd probably wait till 28 weeks or so?
What actually do we need in a hospital bag?

With DD I didn't pack until the day I went to the hospital, oops. :haha: I'm waiting to find out what the hospital here provides before packing, since I waaaaaaay overpacked with her. (We live 5 minutes/less than a mile from the hospital, so I'm not really worried if something does happen and it's not packed)

I keep trying to figure that out as with my dd I was in for 5 days. Just wanting to get things sorted now xx

I'm 45 minutes from mine lol xx

Congratulations on your pregnancy Brunette_21 and other mums-to-be! Have fun packing the hospital bag for your bub & you! And perhaps a little something for your kids and other half too! May God bless you all with a safe delivery of a healthy n happy baby.

:dust: :dust: :dust:

I never pack mine until 30 weeks on! It's fun and exciting to think about though! One thing I am always glad I pack is my own shampoo/body wash and conditioner. It just feels so good to be able to shower the first time after birth with your own stuff.

I'm planning on packing one around 35 weeks. With my 1st, I was so unprepared. my mom and OH had to pack one and bring it to me while I was already in the hospital lol.

My top priorities are my own toiletries, comfy clothes, breast pads, and newborn mittens/hat/sleepers.

I'll be packing around 30 weeks. Last time I packed quite basic, but was in for 4 days with a sicky baby so OH had to bring lots of sleepsuits for him most days! I'll be half an hour away from the hospital this time rather than 2 minutes haha so I want to try make sure I have everything & fingers crossed since I'll have a planned section I won't be in quite as long (last time 1 day was labour, standard 2 day recovery, and an extra day for baby as they thought he developed an infection in labour)

I'll probably start packing mine from 30 weeks onwards and make sure it's completed around the 36-37 weeks mark. My labours have been pretty quick so far so there's no way I can chance leaving it until I'm in labour. Our hospital is also 30 minutes away so really I want to make sure I have enough for at least 2 days. :)

I feel like its the only thing left to do getting edgy lol xx

If you got all the bits and aren't going to need them back out then there's no harm in packing it now if that's what you want and it would make you feel easier about it :)

I'll be 21wks tomorrow and I started getting some things together last week! Mainly because I have particular things I want which I bought last week (some nighties for giving birth in that unbutton low enough to pop baby in wi me after birth for bfing so i don't have to whip everything out with everyone around for example). And I got some new funky slippers to take as the ones I had last time made me feel like an old granny. So I've been packing things like that that I won't be using before hospital. And I have my list fpr myself made, just need to make one for baby and make sure I pop down some snacls for OH and my mum. There's a long list of what to take in in sticky tbread over in Third Tri :)

I've already started buying towards it :haha: I've bought : maternity pads, travel toothpaste/brush set, large cotton wool pads, breast pads, a pack of 5 pairs of giant knickers, & a pack of 5 disposable knickers - I've gotten them all in one sale or another :haha:

I'm waiting until april/may to buy a thin dressing robe and thin pj's and the rest of the items.

I think that's it everyone does things at different times xx

Well, BF and I are moving into a bigger apartment February 5th, so probably sometime after that. I'll be almost 30 weeks pregnant then.

Now, where do you ladies keep your hospital bag? I was thinking about packing two: one for the apartment and one in the car in case I go into labor at work. But then I thought, duh! Just keep one in the car! We'd be taking my car to the hospital anyways, so I might as well just keep it there. But I don't want anything to happen to it with the New England winter that hasn't shown its face yet, but I know is coming.

I've been buying bits and pieces towards mine. Toiletries for myself and slippers so far.

As for baby. We've just picked up her hospital bag and have got some packs of nappies and a couple of sleepsuits to go in, but other than that, nothing else organised as of yet

Not sure when I'll properly start packing though to be honest

With my last pregnancy, i packed my bag and the diaper bag about 32-33 weeks ( i had the baby at 37 weeks!) The baby bag had wipes, a couple diapers and a newborn outfit and a 0-3mos outfit. I had no idea how big this baby was going to be. They have little shirts for the babies, hats and tons of blankets at the hospital. They also provide all diapers and wipes.

My bag:
Yoga pants, tank tops, short robe, flip flops, chargers, ipad, good waterbottle, snacks (granola bars, trail mix), shampoo, conditioner, small bar of soap or body wash, deodorant. I wore the same sun dress out of the hospital that i went in with. They give you all the mesh panties and tons of pads at the hospital. They provide a pump should you need it while youre there.

I'll start packing by 28 weeks. A couple outfits, socks, hats and one blanket. A black nightgown for me and black pj pants. I learned very quickly last time that there is a lot more blood afterwards in the recovery time than you would think. :haha: I'll pack my shampoo/charger etc when we are closer.

With my son we were there for 3 days so I have no clue really how much we will need. However, diapers, wipes, pump, blankets, extra baby shirts and hats were provided by my hospital so I won't pack much of those. Just a few diapers and a pack of wipes in the diaper bag for whenever.
