ok so i know im not pregnant yet!

but i already have pretty much everything i will need (except the BABY!!)

i have babygrows, vests, nappies, wash stuff, bottles, steriliser, blankets

i literally just need the furniture and baby now!!

I was thinkg of getting a few bits gradually for a hospital bag, wondered if any of you had a list or anything like that of what i would need?

lol! Packing for your hospital bag already! My pregnancy seemed to go on for years so I couldn't imagine getting to the stage of packing my bag but here's some stuff I took with me:

a couple of nighties
slippers
dressing gown
bath towel
toiletries
magazines
camera (god don't forget that!)

you don't need to take any bottles or formula with you if you are going to bottle feed as the hosital will give you some ready made formula milk and baby won't drink much at first so be prepared to waste a few!

lots of nappies, baby grows and vests, as they can get sicky, like mine did, non-fragrance soap for you, breast pads, and period pads etc, flannels, towels, nighties, brush, toothbrush, dummies (if you tend to give), camera, mobile phone charger lol

thanks girls. and its just so ive got a list so i can get a few things, like i already have the baby grows and anppies, so i can put some of those in a seperate bag already :)

just stuff like that :) xxx

make sure dummies are sterilised first though

i so cnt wait till i am packing the bags, i am so organised and also dying to do it now but everyone alread thinks i am mad lol

hmmm about dummies. I was convinced when my son was born that he would just automatically have a dummy and he did take to one for about 10 minutes but then kept spitting it out and he hasn't had one since. Dummies are dirty things trust me so don't take them and don't give one in the first place. My boy has had a comforter bear since day one and seemes chuffed to bits with that!

With my next baby I wouldn't even think of buying one.

Each to their own about the dummies. Jack had one and it really helped him to settle.

It's a personal choice, some babies just don't take to them.

Helen, at the time I was all for giving one trust me because I thought all babies had them but I've learnt that if baby doesn't know what something is then they won't miss it. But I agree, if you have a baby that screams all day and night a dummy can be a god send!

yeh megan had one from the time she got home till about 2, then we together put it in the bin, she never asked for it again, but im not sure if i would give to my next one, but il def buy them incase.

When I went in.. I brought a lot of stuff.. and the only thing we really used was my husband ate the snacks and I used my tooth brush and stuff..

But when I got there they put me in a gown and I didn't get out of a gown until about an hour before I left.

The hospital provided a lot of stuff that you'll end up needing. Like the breast pads, pads, shampoo (but I'd bring my own still.. hah) , socks, even underware.. (yes they were clean they were brand new.. haha) They'll have diapers for the baby, formula, pacifiers, they'll even have baby clothes,..

Yes Hun, I don't think I will be giving a dummy again. Trying to get rid of it at the moment!!! Drives me mad when he's trying to talk with his dummy in!! Lol!

ann89, i dnt know where u are from but in the uk the hospitals dont give much anymore, they used to years ago. i rememeber a friend that was visting us lived an hour away went into labour at our house so took her to hospital, she had baby really fast, her hubby missed it all turned up with bag an hour after baby arrived and the hospital didnt have any nappies, clothes nothing. jst gave us more towels to wrap her in.

I live in guernsey, and the only thing they give you is the milk (if your not breastfeeding) and a nappy when there first born, they don't have clothes or anything like that xxx

haha I can imagine! It's his best friend and maybe best friend needs to take a holiday! How old is he, 2? My boy's 2 next month and it's like he knows exactly what I'm saying but when it's to do with something he doesn't want to do it falls on deaf ears!

Yea he was 2 in July. I want it gone by Xmas tho! I think they r ok when they are babies but now he's talking etc it needs to go!

X

I say you go cold turkey - put it in the bin. OK so you will have a couple of days of hell but he'll soon forget. Buy some little snack bags of biscuits and quavers :)
