Hospital birth vs homebirth!!

We bought loads of plastic sheeting (dead cheap!) that we just put on the carpet and would have gone on bed etc if needed, I was supposed to have a water birth but it didn't fill in time, so even though I had a spontaneous labour on the dining room floor the plastic sheeting saved everything. We ended up having to throw away some towels as they were just covered in blood, that probably wouldn't of happened if I had of had my water birth but was no biggie. Everything just got chucked away and I think the MW took it all with her for incineration. Hubby and MW sorted it so by the time I had my bath it was all done and I sat on the sofa feeding baby watching This Morning, bliss

That sounds amazing!! Haha ...

Here's a weird question ... If you use a pool, where does the water go when your done? I live in a flat, so over the balcony? just kidding! ... Serious question though! Lol

Lol, you get something called an....aquarium pump...? Sorry can't remember the name, but basically it pumps the water out of the pool in the reverse out of a hose pipe so you could just put it down the sink, it does all the work for you like filling it. You have a liner in the pool and that gathers all the yucky bits so you just ravel it up and throw it away even though I didn't get in the pool it was all set up and filled and hubby managed to get it all put away before I even realised.

But sure you could do the balcony if you want haha, not sure if that would be littering, good luck to the people downstairs haha.

Our birthing pool came with a water pump which you attach a hose to. You can put the end of the hose into a drain or whatever and it pumps the water out of the pool. No need to spend ages emptying it with a bucket

Obviously I didn't get to have my home birth last time but from what I've heard the midwives clean away all the mess, just like they would in hospital. I bought a cheap shower curtain to put down on the living room floor, and got some old towels ready to use that I didn't care about ruining.
