Hospital just told me I've been referred BACK to GP, WTF?

My GP referred me to the FS at my local hospital at the beginning of this year. I had all the usual tests, all fine and the expert said next stage would be discussion about IUI and IVF in 6 months - which is now. But when I called, chasing an appointment, I was told my case has been 'closed' and I need my GP to refer me again.

This is crazy! I'm going to try to call the department itself (as spoke to Outpatients) but anyone else had this happen? It's like they've stamped me as a lost cause as they can't explain why I'm not preggo yet!

This is the thing, you leave it in their hands (as that is their job) and they do F all about it! I think you are doing the right thing, call them again and ask for an explanation and also call your doctor. He/she may be able to find out whats going on - thats if you have any trust in your doctor!
When I had my bloods done, they lost one set of results, which if I hadnt asked about they wouldnt of know. We have been waiting for ages for an appointment with the FS, I chased it this morning and it hadnt even been picked up on.
I will from now on follow everything up - I think you need to keep pushing this and dont let them fob you off. Its the waiting around I hate but they should at least keep you in the loop and upto date. Sorry im ranting but I feel as pissed of with the NHS as you do right now!!!

It's most probably an admin error ... they do it all the time. Hopefully getting yourself reinstated will just be a telephone call. If not, kick up a fuss...

Oh hun i'm so sorry - FX it is a clerical error.
My friends just had this - 2 years ttc and they are unexplained so have been referred back to their GP to continue ttc another 12 months before they can try IUI. They were told they can have private treatment in the meantime but it would affect their NHS treatment - CHEEK!

That is terrible. Yeah I would just make a big fuss, they have to do something.

I can never work out who is at fault with these things - i got a letter a few weeks back from the FS saying as i had missed my appointment i was now being referred back to my GP. I was like whaaattt??! I'd never even been sent an appt. I was fuming that the slot had been wasted and could have been taken by someone who was desperate for it.

Anyway, hopefully it's just some idiot receptionist and you will get sorted asap xx
