Just wanted to give a warning to the members that live in the US. Looks like 206 hospitals run by Community Health Systems have been hacked. Patient personal information has been stolen(names, social security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, birthdays) You might want to check and see if your hospital is one of those affected. One that I went to several times was one that was hacked. I am still currently trying to figure out if in fact my records were stolen, which most likely they were.

That's horrible. I don't understand how people do the things they do. Thanks for the heads up.

Our local news just reported that one of our largest hospital systems was hacked and 4 million records stolen!!!! Our city has a population of 300,000 so, that pretty much every record they've had. AND, it happened earlier this year!! Months ago, and we're just hearing about it!!!

Thanks for sharing! Luckily mine is safe, but you could sue the hospital for negligence, according to the article I just read!

Hey, thanks for the heads up!
How would I go about finding out if my hospital is one of them?

The best way is to check with the hospital or find a news article on it in your state. That's how I found out. One of our local stations listed all the hospitals in Oklahoma affected. You might also check their website www.chs.net.

I'm not sure if I would sue or not. I'm not a big fan of lawsuits. They did say they would cover identity theft protection for all involved. Guess we will just have to see what happens.

I wouldn't sue either to be honest but some people are into that kind of thing. Lol

We live in a sue-happy world. The only reason I would consider a lawsuit would be if I ended up with some major issues from identity theft and they didn't follow up on their commitment to provide the identity theft protection. But who would want my identity. :) I don't have much of anything and I have the worst credit. We may have to keep an eye on my sons though. He was also at that hospital when he was an infant(had RSV) My husband had a coworker who's 6 month old daughter's identity was stolen. He found out when someone called to verify her employment status.

I had my identity stolen when I was 14 :/. Don't ask me how they managed to get a mortgage or car loan in my name when i was only 14, but that is what the credit union told me when they looked into it.

I am pretty sure I am safe now though, thank god. It has been a long road to repairing my credit. For the longest time I got declined for any credit cards and I never even had one. I finally got a break from my bank and have been able to repair it ever since.
