Hot Bath….

The bit about the pores and infections is not accurate....sorry to be so blunt. The reason you are not to take overly warm, long baths is because of the risk of overheating your body and hence the fetus; early in pregnancy, hot tub (jacuzzi) use has been linked to neural tube defects such as spina bifida, particularly when the use is between the weeks of 4 and 7.

But hot baths at home are unlikely to cause this because they don't typically stay over 103F for 15 minutes or longer as they cool off unlike jacuzzi-style hot tubs which are often at 104F and held steady at that temp by warming mechanisms.

I know this because I obsessed after I had been in a hot tub for 45 minutes before I knew I was pregnant! I did a ton of research out of my panic and thank god my daughter is free of neural tube defects.
