Hi ladies
My daughter was born at 8lb 12.5oz on her due date, and her head was at 99 on the centile charts. She got stuck in the birth canal and I ended up having a forcep delivery.
At my 20 week scan I asked whether I could have a growth scan later on to mainly check head circumference so at least I can feel prepared. Thing is, I forgot to ask how accurate late scans are at predicting birth weight? The scan will be done at 35+6.
Thanks x

Crap! I was estimated to have an 8lb baby (scan 4 days before birth) he was 10lb3oz. I knew he would be big though as he measured 6lb13oz at 36 weeks so I'd have said the 36 week one was more accurate. I've heard stories of large babies predicted and induced because of it, turns out they were really small.
Xx

I had a growth scan with my last at about 36 weeks as my fundal height was measuring 6Cm behind. They estimated delivery weight to be 7lb. She was 6lb 15.5 oz born day before her due date.

if you get a good tech then the 36 week one is really good. They were spot on my ds2.

I had a rubbish one with ds1 and ALL of my scans were out including one at 38/39 weeks which predicted he was already 7lb 2oz.. so everyone said 8lb minimum at birth. he was born 40+6 5lb 15oz x

i had growth scans my last preg (2nd) they nvr told me anything just tht all was fine. Checked kidneys etc but nvr told weight. My first was 6ib 12oz at 39+5 second was 6ib 7oz at 39+6(measured 2weeks behind at scans so guessed girl) nw 21 with 3rd an had 20week scan on mon all ok an having 3 extra growth scans. I was thinking big bubs as am big, well i think i am plus uterus measuring 3+ weeks ahead for gest.

My growth scan with my DS was at 32 weeks, and he was estimated at 5lbs. He was born at 36+6 weeks weighing 6lbs 11oz, so if you go by the 1/2lb a week rule, it was pretty accurate.

My coworker was induced at 36 weeks, they predicted her LO to be over 8lbs, she was born at over 6lbs

I had a scan at 37,6. Baby was predicited birth weight on 10lbs. He cam at 39,1 at 7lbs 14.5 oz

They can go up to 2 lbs either way. We knew my last one was going to be big. They estimated 8.5 he was 9 lb, 12 oz. They are not very accurate.

I guess I got lucky with my growth scan. I had one done at 36 weeks and they said he was currently 9 lbs 3 ounces and would be around 11 pounds at birth. He was 10 lbs 11 ounces, so my tech did a good job :)

It was predicted that ds1 was small and would only weigh 5lbs at birth. He was 6lb 4oz, so still small but not as small as they had predicted!

They predicted I would have a 10/11lber. She was 8lb 10 at 6 days over. X

I had a growth scan at 34 weeks and was predicted a 9lb baby, he arrived 40+8 weighing 8lb 11oz so not far off really.

With DD I had a scan done at 37 weeks where the tech said she weighed 6Ibs11oz... exactly one week later she was born at 7Ibs11oz :p Either the tech was wrong or my baby grew a pound in a week. Either way a pound off isn't that much.

I honestly think it has to do with the person. Some people are dead on and others not so much. Also, how accurate can it really be measuring something inside our bellies :p There's so much stuff in there already and with baby all cramped up I don't imagine its very easy.
