How common are false negatives/am I crazy?

This is my first month off birth control and I sort of charted menstruation and vaguely CM and things of that nature and BD around the time of supposed ovulation and a couple times before and after, just in case.

I was supposed to get AF yesterday and generally seem to get it in the morning. I got impatient and went out and got two Walgreens brand digital tests. One didn't work and the second clearly stated Not Pregnant. I know, I'm crazy to take it further than that but it's the next day and still nothing. I'm cramping a little, have a light twinging and some pangs in my stomach and feel nauseous. My breasts are all over sore now instead of just pangs and my CM is sticky/creamy the last couple of days. I know generally this is supposed to be almost non-existent close to your period. Also, my urine is cloudy and has been for a week or so and I read that could be a potential symptom. (I've never noticed this before and I do not have any signs of an infection.)

Anyway, my periods are generally regular. A couple other things, I am technically obese but not extremely and have a couple PCOS signs but none of the hair thinning, awareness of cysts or menstrual issues.

Essentially, I feel pregnant and I took the test the day I expected my period. How common are false negatives and do my symptoms just sound like PMS or is there some validity to my feeling? The couple of people I told said I took tests too early but the box says 5 days before is acceptable. What do you guys think? Also, share your similar stories!

I wish I had an answer for you but I am in the same boat. I am two days late and gotten all bfn :( I am told some women dont test positive for a week after their missed period! Oh my gosh im going crazy. My cycles are regular too so this is not normal for me. But I also know first month off bc can be kind of crazy while our cycles get used to happening on their own. I have also heard you get a surge in fertility too! Hope you get your bfp!

Try not to worry, I'm now a week late a BFN yesterday morning. I think our bodies can just be messed up sometimes

Ugh, yes, it's pretty frustrating. I'm now on CD31 and no signs of AF. Before I was cramping, now I don't really feel it coming at all. I took like an 88 cent test last night and got what I can only imagine is an evap line (which I didn't see until this morning) and even that had me excited because the previous ones had nothing lol. I'll be okay if AF comes, I just want to know and am very impatient.

I've heard that you get a surge as well, which is one reason we decided to try the first month! I've also heard that it can take a while to regulate but how obnoxious is that... lol. Of course things like that happen when you're hoping for your period to be late. Keep me posted! I hope you get a bfp too! Maybe it does just take a while, like you said!

Yes I know exactly what you mean!! I will and keep me posted too! Those evaps are the worst. I get evaps all the time especially on the blue dye or the 88 cents one. SO frustrating!! And symptoms will come and go making them really unreliable so I cant trust my body to tell me either!! Great lesson in patience arrrrrg!!

Sometimes coming off birth control can screw with your system a bit. Give it a little time :)

I got a false negative at 10dpo, then the positives started rolling in. My previous pregnancy I got my bfp a week late, however it ended in MC at 7w4d.

I suppose since I was only on birth control around 10 or 11 months that I thought it'd be easier, but I guess not lol. But that's exactly what I need to do. I'm pretty sure AF will come because it's unlikely for it to happen the first month I try. I've just got to try to roll with whatever happens.

It can go either way I guess, then. I'm so sorry about your MC.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm in the same boat. Cd46! Bfn last night, boobs super super sore, hips too.

Had some off and on nausea, extreme fatigue.

What is going on??

Update when you can please! @bonniepe29 your chart looks kind of favorable with the consistent temp rise...

Just took another test this morning and it is again negative... (I had to edit this because I put false... see, way too hopeful lol)

cd35, was supposed to start on Monday and I have been consistently exhausted, with sore breasts and some stomach issues... began with period like cramping, which turned into just a sort of twinge. I also still have some sticky/creamy CM. Seems sort of like pregnancy symptoms to me but I wonder if it's just coming off the pill. Can that make you extremely tired and all? I'm a little concerned about being sick now.

Most likely not pregnant but irritated by AF making me wait.

Hope you others are getting a bit more clarity. And yeah, keep us all posted. :dust:

thanks! I thought so too I am now cd21 and its been pretty consistanly high so huge rises or anything but no AF and another bfn today. Going to the doctor wednesday. So frustrated!

Just an update... anyone else have updates? I also have some questions and am hoping someone will stumble across this post again. Figured I'd do it on the same thread.

I'm now I guess 9 days past the day I was supposed to start my period, which was the Monday before last. I've had a couple fillings and pretty bad tooth pain after so I've been a bit distracted.

Tuesday, I believe, I took a pregnancy test (just an equate one) and it was negative. I kind of decided after that that I just wasn't pregnant. It had been an official week and a day. However, last night (and this is kind of funny) I smelled my husband's breath and like just had to go throw up. It wasn't even that bad, just you know... not great :haha:

I still have an upset stomach, my breasts hurt and feel fuller and I'm having some cramps. Sounds weird. Should I even try another test? Also, should I try to go to the doctor if I'm not getting my period or just assume it's coming off birth control and that I'm fine? I'm not too concerned about trying for this month because it's so screwy and if I start my period this week, I'd likely ovulate when I'm at my parents' for Christmas so that aint happenin' lol.

I don't know. What do you guys think I should do? Just assume I'm just screwed up from my pills? (I only took them like 10 mos, just seems odd)

One more question: I keep seeing people ask others if they've tried a FRER. Is that First Response Pregnancy Test? Is there something preferable about this test, is it different... or just the best brand? Just curious about this and if it tends to have better results or what the deal is.

Thanks!
