I want to call her something unique, we was going for something normal at first we thought Amelia, but now I keep hearing or seeing it everywhere :-(
My friend just had a little girl and called her Pixie Jannika, although this is a bit out there for us I started thinking a unique name is better.

What about Alva Emmary? Emmary as her middle name
Alva is apparently common in Norway, which she is half of , but she'll be in the UK and I've not heard it here at all?

alva makes me think vulva for some reason hun sorry.
you thought of changing it to Alba? i grew a fondness of this name once. still fond of it now actually.
i first came across it when the baby in the film time travellers wife got called it.
its actually quite an old name, become popular around 1914-1917 in england then faded out and hasnt been used anywhere near as much now (ive lived in quite a few places and never met anyone called alba)
its got a pretty meaning behind it as well if i remember correctly, cant remember the meaning but i remember it being nice (im not too keen on names with meanings that are doom and gloom)
its not very different from alva and its a nice suitable english name but as its not too different from the common norway version.
also emmery ive only ever seen this used as a boys name, nice name  unusual but not too out there i like it but not too sure if its a girly enough boys name to use for a girl.
sorry dont think ive been much help really! xx

i love the name Amelia but ur right it is verrryy popular right now! I'm not really keen on Alva, sorry...
i like Ada :) which is just slightly different to the extremely popular Ava

I was going to suggest Ada aswell, Im not sure about Alva though.

What about Alyvia? (pronanced A-LA-V-AH)

.x.

I like Alva, I think an Alva would be a very intellectual girl like a scientist or something!

Alva is quite cute and i think it could grow on me, and if its linked to her heritage then its a nice idea . I also like Ada as someone else suggested, Ava, Elva, Elvie .

If you like Amelia but feel its a bit popular for you then how about Amelie, although its still popular its not as much so as Amelia. xx

I remember someone posting on here once about the name Alba -- and everyone seemed to love it. Prefer Alba to Alva especially after the vulva comment -- now that is all that pops into my head! :dohh:

I love Ava & Amelia and personally i don't think popularity should matter much -- the important thing is choosing a name you love!

I have seen the name Alyvia used (pronounced like Olivia only a bit softer) -- which is very pretty!

my neice is called amelia & its a lovely name, my other niece (her sister) is cheyanne pronounced shy-anne which i think is pretty uncommon

Alva is nice and not very close to the gentitalia name.

Go for it

I didn't think of vulva at all. It is really pretty and think it will mean alot, especially with her heritage.

I think Alva is beautiful and if it links to her heritage, that's even better!

Alba is the Gaelic name for Scotland.

I also like Amelia but wouldn't use it either as it's so common. How about Emilia though (nn Emmie)?

aw just remembered the meaning behind Alba that made it catch my eye.
in spanish and italian it means white and in germanic it means enchanted being. xx

Alva reminds me of a town 2 mins from us :nope: sorry... i love Amelia though. Alba is sweet :)
