How did u prepare your 3 year old for injections?

Hi,my 3 year old son has his 3 yr injections tomorrow, what did u say to your little ones before?

We explained that she was going to have an injection so that she didn't get poorly. We let her watch an episode of Get Well Soon where one of the characters had an injection.
She handled it much better than I thought she would so good luck

Thank u,this is what I'm planning on saying to him too,knowing my boy though next time he has a bug etc he will turn around and say the injection was meant to stop him getting poorly

My 2.5 year old and 4 year old have both just had injections.
I told them they were having it about an hour before so that they wouldn't have time to worry. I just said that the nurse would put an injection in their arm matter of factly, I didn't mention anything about pain or hurting.
They both accepted it and had them done with no tears or worries. The nurse said they were the best she'd seen in a long time. My son was fascinated watching when it went in.

I explained we were going to the doctor to get her some medicine which would keep her healthy. She understood that concept because we got our flu jab/spray together the year before and she saw me get the jab (even when she got the spray). I explained where they would do it, in her arm, and that it would be a little pinch in each arm, but then it would feel better. She asked a few questions about it and I was honest with her that it might hurt and it might bleed a little, but it would keep her healthy and that was fine. She handled it all very stoically. I think it's good to be open about it, but not make a big deal of it either. It will hurt a little, but it is good for them and you'll be there for him. It really wasn't a big deal and actually much less traumatic than I expected!
