How did you choose your baby names?

Ah we're having a bit of a kerfuffle with names atm lol we'd 'decided' on Eleanor Rose and Joshua Kyle rather a few months ago when I came off the pill.. BUT I'm in love with the name Elsie, he very much hates it - he joked that he'd leave me if I called our girl Elsie lol :(
On the other hand, he likes Harvey and I don't see myself with a son called Harvey at all..
So the first names I mentioned it is then lol!

Should i mention my daughters name is Eleanor Rose lol, So nice to hear other people like that name too. But the surname is Rose. My other Daughters is Isabella-Rose

Aww, yeah i love it lol. Thought it was a bit more unique than Olivia Mae and Ellie Mae - they seems to be in overhaul these days lol, there's 4 babies just from girls in college that i know called Ellie Mae!

we've decided on a couple of girls names... Dakota Kleya, and Saskia (still unsure of a middle name for this one.... )
for a boy it will be Quentin as thats the only boys name we've agreed on, everything else one suggests the other cant' stand!

Luckily, OH and I like the same middle name. He said he liked Lynne as a middle name. I didn't tell him beforehand about that name either. So that's 10 points for OH! We also like Alyssa. I was thinking Jo(sephine) Lynn would be cute, too.

me and OH have similar tastes in names and one day a long while ago we sat down and talked about it and agreed on 6 names we liked and than how we got our middle names are if they are boys there middle names will be that of the grandfathers i have lost (i have no grandfathers in exsistance any more) but i do have a step grandpa if that counts tehe. anywayz and if we have girls the middle names will be that of the grandmas OH has lost (as i still have ann my grandmas and OH has no real one left but his great grandma) so thats how we decided :)

We have a whole grip of names, and when the baby finally comes out we will pick one... cause we think the name should fit them haha

well i have had names picked out since the 7th grade!! lol im no in my second year of college. ive always liked the name Aedyn for a boy and DF said he liked it too. We agreed that our first son will have his middle name, Erik, and first daughter will have my middle name which is Lee. I want to name our son after him Per Erik (pronounced like the fruit Pear lol) but he said he got teased too much. Girls names were harder for him. He didnt like Madisyn or McKenna. We agreed on Alexis Lee.

We found our daughters name on the show "Jon & Kate: Plus 8" on TLC. Alexis is our favorite girl and it just so happens our favorite boy on the show is their son Aaden (spelled differently than ours) So thats how our daughters name came to be.

We also like Ameliah Joy. So I can call my little girls Lexie and Liah. and we also like the name Austin Michael. All A names I know!! lol but all the girls in my family have "i" in their name. Mom is Cathi, sister is Cori, and i am Jaimi. So I want to keep a cute thing going. :)

He wants to name one of our sons after his dad, Nicholas Eugene. I just don't like Eugene lol :dohh:

wow. that was longer than expected. let me know what you think!! now we just gotta HAVE a LO and we're set.

i wrote a long list of boys and girls names (i never knew the sex)
everytime i asked ian what names id always get 'dunno' lol
when amber was born, we had talk he only liked amber out of 50 odd names, so it was that 1.
going to be fun next time round

some babies you have to see before you name them as far as me and my OH choose names that you dont hear all the time Lea and cody we have a son named cayden he's in heaven right now but names can be a challenge

i love those names britt. :)

i agree. some babies you do have to see them before you give them their name. thats why my DF and I have a few names picked out that we actually like.

Okay, my OH is deathly afraid of naming the girl after a porn star. I don't know why he's making such a big fuss about it.

So we can't use

Tera
Jenna
Amber (lynn)
Ginger (lynn)

and I'm sure the list will get longer

we just went through alot of sites and books wrote down seperatly what we liked and we looked at eachothers lists and decided the ones we liked from there and we looked at things from there then we came up with a boys name and a girls name with middle names that way we choose amber emily and alfie edward for a boy i hope that it helps

There are a couple names I've always liked, and then I went through that list with DH. Thankfully he liked those names fairly well, except my favourite name for a boy- Josiah, he thinks will get teased..I don't think so, but anyway, he says we can name a boy Josiah anyway and just give him a nickname like Joe or Josh.

The name I previously liked for a girl's name doesn't sound good with our surname, so I went through a bunch of baby name sites online and looked for names. I've always wanted to give our kids names with nice meanings as well as ones that sound nice. The list so far is Vanessa, Elsie, and Anneke -pronounced Anika- for girls, and Josiah and Marcus for boys.

DH doesn't have a middle name, and doesn't want our children to have middle names either. It's a big thing here to have middle names be family names, and it often causes big family quarrels when picking names, which is why his parents decided against middle names.

OH hasn't taken much to do with it, but so far, we've got

Lucy Asta for a girl, and Nathaniel for a boy - Asta was my mum's name and I promised her on her death-bed my first born daughter would be named after her, and I really like Lucy as well.

All we're really set on is that the names should be 'normal' - having both grown up with names you constantly have to spell out, we're determined to give our kids the most normal names possible LOL with the most basic spellings, so they're spared the whole 'and how do you spell that?'

It might seem like an amazing idea to give your baby this special name - but trust me - your baby will NOT thank you for it.

Our LO will have a name beginning with 'L' DH, his DD and I all have names beginning with 'C', his son's name begins with 'L' and he's constantly saying he's the odd one out, he even asked us to call him connor or something poor wee scone he's only 9 LOL.

We've picked Libby Maye for a wee girl (after my mum Elizabeth and his mum May)and we'll let the wee man pick from a shortlist of boy's names(none we can agree on as of yet) if it's a boy. All we need now is a :bfp: to go with the names LOL!!!!
