How did you find caring for baby

dragonfly that's terrible! they have a duty to care for everyone! I really cant believe that im so mad for you hun. did you put a complaint in?? :growlmad:

Thanks LDC ds1 was very small so im expecting another small baby... although you watch me have a big one this time lol.

Jenny - was it an infection in your scar hun? did you get antibiotics during your section? ooo if im fine and they have no reason to keep ds2 then regardless of when they want me to leave i will discharge us myself... i did the same with ds1 xx

Yeah it was in my wound, it was really really bad. They didn't give routine anti biotics back then (10 year ago) they used metal stapes, and I also had a drain, both of which im refusing to have this time round. The infection lasted months, and it really efected my bonding with DS as I was alone with no help too.

I had metal staples, and wasn't given antibiotics just 2 weeks ago!

Everyone's experience will be different, but you really must ask for help if you are struggling - trying to manage too much by yourself will just cause more pain, make it harder to do anything, and generally make things worse! I can't remember great detail of how things were for me, but I do remember everything I did being very slow and painful for quite some time. I was still really sore at 8 days when i was readmitted to hospital with terrible mastitis and a uterine infection. And for weeks afterwards the slightest movement caused a terrible pain in my side, just next to the scar. Some of the pain has returned now that I am pregnant again and the scar tissue is having to stretch.
Really, all you can do is see how you get on when baby arrives, and ask for help when you need it. Good luck x

Thank you for your reply hun :flower: Thankfully i wont have to do the pain during another pregnancy thing as i dont plan on getting pregnant again. Number 2 is out final addition xxx

Jenny put your foot down hun!

hopefulfor1st.. which hospital are you at hun?

I have already been told that i will be given antibiotics either before surgery or during surgery. I was told that when i asked about Strep B that i dont have to worry about that this time as i will be given antibiotics anyway. And most surgeons who do sections on my hospital either use disolving stitches or the ones witht he little beads on that get taken back out. I'll be asking for dissolvable ones. The last time i had to get stitches out the woman doing it was very rough and snotted all over the wound (literally.. her nose ran and dripped onto my hand where she was removing the stitches  )
xx

hopefultfor1st - Im not sure what legislations they have with requards to that in your country. But in the UK, they have to follow NICE guildlines, which now require anti biotics to be given either before or during the section.

The metal staples are barbaric, and I won't have them put in me again after last time. I hope they go well for you though hun.

I've had 3 sections now and I know for a fact that I cannot get out of bed and on my feet for the first day - prob about 12 hours or so. They try getting me up every time and I just can't as it makes me feel really sick. As soon as I'm out of theatre I take the baby into bed with me and there she stays - nursing and sleeping. It's the only way I can cope.

Thanks hun :hugs: sorry to hear you have such a hard time of it after a section. Do you have someone there to help pass you nappies etc? xxx

Nope, not at night, you just need to buzz the MWs to come and change the baby for the first night, especially as you need to walk to the sink with a catheter bag for the water lol.

ahh the good old cathater bag lol. i never thought about that one. xx
