How do I know if I'm leaking amniotic fluid?

This post may be TMI, but was curious if anyone ever had this. For the past few hours I've been to the bathroom about 4 times, as I feel constantly wet all of a sudden. When I wipe, I don't notice anything unusual (except for my usual light yellow/light brown staining on my pad). Even now sitting at my desk I can feel moisture between my rear cheeks (sorry, TMI). I'm not sure if I'm just sweating or if I should worry. Would amniotic fluid leak out that slowly? I have been running around like crazy today at work, so perhaps it's just a combination of sweat and discharge. Arrgh, wish we could test for amniotic fluid at home. Please help!

The only sure way is to go get swabbed. But when mine ruptured with my daughter I honestly just thought I had a sweaty fanny.... Best thing to do is go get checked because it's not worth the risk of infection if you are and if your not then it will give you piece of mind.

Thanks! It really does feel like my bum is sweating. Did you end up going into labor? Or just staying on bed rest?

I was induced the next day because I really didn't know how long it had been going on for. But I had a healthy baby girl at 34.5 weeks and we were released less than 24 hours later. How far along are you?

I'm at 34+2. Yikes - if this is it, we're really not ready.

Oh hun your never gunna feel ready even if you were pregnant for two years I've done this twice before and I still never feel quite ready. All you can do is jump in with two feet and trust me instincts will take over.

Please go in and get swabbed the longer you leave it the worse the outcome could be. And funny thing is is this will probably be the only point in your life that your hoping that you've lost all bladder control lol.

Thanks! I know that emotionally I probably will never be ready. Hubby is still painting the nursery...feeling very unorganized and running out of time.

At my childbirth class, she said that if we think we are leaking fluid but the head may be blocking it from "flowing out" one way to check is to go change and dry yourself off. Then stand up, and lean forward and rest your hands on the counter or a table or something, and sway from side to side. If you are leaking fluid, the side to side motion should move baby enough that some more will come out. Good luck!
