I offer lots of healthy foods throughout the day, leaving it up to him to regulate his intake.
Above all else, it isn't the quantity I am worried about but the relationship he builds with his food. No force feeding.
I try to keep it balanced over the course of a few days (compensating for things that were lacking the day before over the coming days). Today he mostly only ate fruit, refused everything else, even cheese
Tomorrow I will try again and offer the other food groups and typically he does balance out his tastes over the course of a few days. He just has his favourites each day.
As for calcium, milk isn't the only source and many nurses have told me they see too many babies getting TOO much milk. So I don't even bother worry ever about his milk intake anymore. If he drinks 1oz or 16oz, it's up to him. As long as he is getting calcium elsewhere like broccoli and cheese and vitamin supplements to boot he is just fine.
