Christmasify is definitely a word and not one I totally just made up...

How do you decorate your living rooms/halls/any other spaces? Would love to see pics!

Need inspiration for mine this year and I know you lot must have some gorgeous Christmas decorated houses! Besides the tree I'm trying to work out what else!

Thanks!

Right, I've got this down to an art :haha:

Tree in the corner next to the bookcase. My theme colours for the living room are red and gold. Tinsel goes around everything. Along the lamp, the curtain rail, book case, pictures along the walls. Nothing gets spared from the tinsel :haha: I have a gingerbread garland that I made with connor last year, that goes on the feature wall. We have a large wooden snowman picture that I got from zulily next to the door. Candles are put on most surfaces (this year we're putting fake tea lights on anywhere that saskia can reach). I put Christmas cards in rows along the big empty wall. I dot little decorations like snowmen and father Christmases wherever they fit. On the sofa goes a cosy red throw. We also have a cute snowman door stop and a christmas mat by the front door.

In the kitchen goes a tiny pink Christmas tree with a few baubles (think tiny as in smaller than a foot). We have a 'merry Christmas' garland along the one empty wall. Connor has a large Father Christmas advent calendar that I don't fill up but use it as a count down, I hang that up.
On the stair rail goes tinsel. And the bedrooms have Christmas bed sheets and stockings hanging throughout all of december.
Going to dig out some photos in a sec x

Oh my... our house looks like Christmas threw up :haha: OH loves all those shiny and tacky things, so it's everywhere. I'm off to photobucket to find pics :xmas13:

Great pics Eve! i am jealous of the lovely snow in your window!

We live in an RV and have limited places to decorate, we have a smallish tree that sits on our table between our rocking chairs;

and we have a few light up houses spread around;

and some other random decorations and pictures, i am going to try find some more stuff to put on the walls this year as we have limited bench space, also going to try get some outdoor decorations.

I notice you are in TX, so it's quite warm there year round, am I right? Love the tree! Looks so cozy!

Yeah i am in Tx, it gets quite cold in the winter, but not cold enough for snow to stick, we get flurries but that's about it. would love to get just a little bit of snow for the kids to play in lol still it beats being in Australia for Christmas, thats where i am from and its summer there and stinking hot lol

I couldn't imagine it being hot at Christmas :haha: it just seems to strange to think about. It's always been winter, cold and usually snowy.

My husband is American and the first year he spent in Australia, he was pouring in sweat putting up the Christmas tree, it was quite hilarious to watch!!
Having experienced both hot and cold Christmas's i prefer cold, the cold adds to it i think. We did have one Christmas in the Mountains in California and it snowed a week before christmas, it was beautiful. :)

Sorry for hijacking your thread CRWx. :flower:

Eve, I love the snowman on the fridge!

I would be sweating, that I know :haha: Ohhhh snow and mountains <3 sounds so festive!

Yes, sorry hun, didn't mean to hijack :xmas10:

This is my favourite part of our decorations, it's our living room window. Tinsel and tree lights round the curtain pole, giant baubles hanging down. A candle arch on the other side of the blinds and then the kids put those red stars there last year.

Other than this we just have the tree :) xx

That is absolutely beautiful!

I can never get pics to add on here but my house also looks like a grotto lol! All bedrooms have Christmas bedding, I have my snowglobe out in mine and DD has her own little tree in hers (DS might get one this year), we do a porch display so have a 6ft tree in there with all the trimmings! Fake snow on the floor, giant inflatable santa that goes up and down the chimney, polar bears and reindeers galore with snowflake stickers on the window. Then kitchen, bunting right round, big bowl of baubles, stuff in the windows, twiggy tree. Living room, 7ft tree, garland on fireplace, plenty of christmas items dotted round the room, also have loads of hanging Christmas signs everywhere.....

we take Christmas very seriously in my house :haha:

This will be our second Christmas in this house (last year moved in right before Christmas so just stuck the tree up really). We bought a lovely light up tapestry in Blackpool last year which we will hang above the fireplace. We also have a garland for the fireplace but not sure it will fit as this one is smaller than our old one. We also have a fibre optic santa sleigh with reindeer we put on the sideboard with fake snow. I've got a couple of light up snowmen which I put on top of the DVD player. The cards from family we put up on the door and cards for alex from school I will probably put on the kitchen wall. I had a light up 'santa stop here' sign for Alex's window in the last house so would like to get another to put in each of their windows. I want to put some fairy lights in our bedroom window if we have any spare. I'll be buying a candle arch for the kitchen window (kitchen is at the front of the house) and I would like outside lights hanging along the top of the house but dont think we can afford some this year. If we had the money I would love some outside decorations for the front lawn.

I can't wait to put all the decorations up this year

Usually we just put the tree up and some fake snow spray and snowflake stickers on the windows. When I was younger my mum used to have all those really tacky ceiling decorations that stretched from corner to corner on the ceiling and those giant ceiling stars that used to fold out when you hung them lol.

I would like to do more this year now Callum is older and christmas is more magical for him and I think Amelie will like looking at it all so will be looking for ideas!

I like to do up the fireplace (I'm over-compensating because I hate my ugly fire). We turn one of the doors into a snowman and I put lights up on the windows (though I don't think I have any pics of that) and just generally put out Christmassy ornaments etc. Here's last year's efforts.

Tbh my favourite way to Christmasify the house is by smell! I stock up on Yankee Christmas Samplers and every year I get a little bottle of "Christmas essence" from the markets, it smells sooooooo good, I put it on everything. I've started a little early this year, I got a big bag of scented pine cones from the garden centre this weekend so I've put them around the house :haha::happydance:

Love your decorations!!

This is our first Christmas in this house. Our old place was so small that all I ever did was a Christmas tree and window stickers, lol. But I'm hoping to go all out this year. We'll get a real, big tree for the living room. The girls have a small 3 ft. prelit white Christmas tree to put in the hallway between their rooms and to decorate on their own. I don't have much in the way of decorations otherwise at the moment other than a plaid stuffed reindeer, a "Merry Sithmas" wreath that I got last year on clearance and can't wait to hang this year and a snowglobe my MIL gave me. I want to decorate our fireplace mantle, have candles everywhere, garlands around doorways, lights in the windows and I really want a little Christmas village scene, I've always loved those. Maybe a nice tablecloth for the dining room and a wreath for the front door.
