It’s a hungry caterpillar one made of fabric, with a plastic teething bit on the end, so I can’t put it in the steamer. It was a present from someone who, shall we say, is a bit grubby. :haha: So I’d like to give it a good clean before LO rams it in her mouth!

Sorry if this is a stupid question but LO has only just started & I’ve not had to think about it before.

Id hand wash it 1st.Then when its dry i would hold the ring over a kettle while it steams;)Hope this helped

I know the toy you mean as I have one - haven't used it for LO yet. If you have some, could you use sterilising tablets, just immersing the teething part? Or maybe use some kind of dettol type spray to get rid of any germs and then a good wash in hot, soapy water? I tend to think by the time they're putting *everything* in their mouth sterilising becomes a bit redundant... but if it's come from a grubby home I too would give it a good scrub :D

I've bought loads of plastic and fabric baby toys/teethers second hand and just chucked them in the washing machine - they've all come out fine so far.

I would just put it in the washer. I've never had to worry about anything being ruined after putting in the washer either, thank god!

We have bought a teething toy/rattle and when I went to clean it before putting it anywhere near Francesca I read the cleaning instructions - wipe clean only, do not immerse in water etc.

So I sprayed some of that dettol non taint anti-bacterial stuff onto a clean j cloth and wiped it all over then wiped it again after rinsing the cloth in hot water.

Although in our case it's not like she is ready to put it in her mouth or hold it or anything but I wanted to make sure it was nice and clean before I waved it in front of her face lol!!!

I would bung it in the machine then wipe the plastic bit with some anti bacterial wipes the tommee tippee ones are a life saver xxx

Duh! I didn't even think of sticking it in the washing machine! I'll try that, plus some wipes.

HinkyBinky - glad you agree! I'm really not overly bothered about germs, but it would make me feel better knowing whose house it has come from!

Thank you all x

I put them in the washing machine if they are mostly fabric or use a milton wipe. dettol or fairy liquid :flower:

I'd probably hand wash the soft toy or bung it in a short wash in the washing machine. If not the milton wipe the whole thing x
