How do you prepare for when baby comes home??

I was thinking about this last night and i have no idea.

Obviously no-one knows when they are going to give birth ( unless it's cesearan ect), so you can't sterilise all the bottles before you go to the hospital so they are ready for when you get home, so what exactly do you do?

Do you just do it as soon as you come home? Get someone to do it for you? Do it before you go and hope your home within the 24 hour period that they stay sterile for? ()

Hmmm.

What i did was buy a couple of cartons of ready made formula, and then as soon as we got home from the hospital i washed and sterilised them and made her a few bottles up.

It honestly doesnt take long hun, 20 mins tops!!

Obv if you want to use powder then maybe just buy a couple of the small cartons to get you going ... you may even find it easier to use the ready made stuff for the first week until you get the hang of things hun.

I had the steriliser unpacked and the bottles in boxes next to it ready.

I think i will do hun yeah alot of people have advised that. Thanks hun xx

I only had x2 250ml cartons as i really wasnt expecting Brooke when she came so my mum had to do a mad rush to the shops for me to get some more

I took two of those little glass bottles of sma home with me from the hospital so I had a few bottles for her before I got mine sterilised. And when I got home my dad did the steriliser and made up my bottles for me. My mum and dad did this between them for the first few days. :D

I had everything out on the counter ready to sterilize. Sterilized them and made up bottles that evening. Luckily the hospital sent us home with a couple of things of ready made stuff to get through until the bottles were done

I was induced but everything kicked off sooner than I thought and I totally wasn't prepared, my mum came to the hospital and got the house key from me and went back and washed/sterilsed all the bottles just so that they were ready, and I had the cartons of milk just to make my life easier!
You could just give a family member a key to your house maybe, so when you go into labour they can pop into the house and get things prepared for you.

Id probably get the cartons of milk to make it a little easier. But maybe before you know you are coming home somebody else like your OH could sterilise the bottles for you. Before baby was here i practiced sterilising them from the instructions so i knew exactly what to do so i didnt panic when baby was here!

I had everything already prepared and the steriliser tested. So when I got home I just took the bottles out of the box, sterilised them, boiled water and made them.
It took just 30 minutes (it was the first time) and then was all ready to use for the whole day.

Before I made them I had a carton of ready made that they have given me in the hospital.

That was good of them Amy!!

You could even buy the ready made bottles, SMA do a box of them, all prepped and in bottles ready to go!!

i was prepared with everything else except this, the sterilizer was still in the box in my wardrobe lol. i would have been if she hadnt made an early appearance.
soon as we got home Annabelle was asleep anyway we made the bottles up quickly and we were all sorted.

i came home bf-ing but switched after a few days, we already had the steriliser and bottles set up on the side ready to go! we'd done a quick run through whilst pregnant and james washing and sterilised whilst i stood (very carefully due to c-section ;)) and barked my orders  like holly said it takes 20mins tops :)

just to add, next time i believe i'm going to go straight to bottles, so i probably would buy some of the ready made stuff or bring some of the bottles home from the hospital :)

My sterilizer was in the box when i had Ciaran but luckily i stayed with my mum bk then so she handled that but the hospital let me take some ready made bottles home to last me

I was taken in unexpectably and was planning to bf... didnt go to well and of all days I self discharged on a bloody bank hol :dohh:

Managed to find a shop and did what holly suggested... brought some ready made cartons!! It worked for us, OH sterlised the bottles before he picked me up :)
