They spend 9 months inside their mommy so thats a sure bond seems like daddies get the short end of the stick lol!!

LOL trust me! Being pregnant and carrying a child for nine months is not easy!! But when your baby is here, he/she will know who the father is. It takes some getting used to, but as long as your around your little one they will know you're someone important. :flower:

I think they just instinctively know, could be because that's the man they spend the most time with so he becomes the most familiar aswell? Because a baby that's adopted will believe it's adoptive parents are it's own because that's who he/she is always with iykwim. Just guessing though xx

So its deffo linked to you being around the bubz alot after it born is that it??

Yeah. I mean when they're inside the womb they can hear and if you're around the mother a lot then the baby can hear you. I mean when my son was born he automatically knew me but he knew his dad too. Probably because he remembers his voice or whatever. But yeah, don't think you've got the short end of the stick. Your baby will know who you are :flower:

I think it's also your smell - like the baby recognises your scent because he/she came from you. That's why you're advised to refrain from wearing perfume/spraying scented things whilst in labour, so I guess dad's shouldn't wear aftershave when the baby's born either so the baby can properly recognise the scent, but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe they can still smell "your smell" under the aftershave/perfume.

It's not really a bad thing, because if the mother wasn't around the baby wouldn't know any different. They recognise you as mum and dad because you're the ones who bond with him/her the most and spend the most time and give the most attention to them :) xx

Yeah i guess, i was just sitting here wondering how dads form that bond with a new child through others ways too, not every daddy gets that priviledge and also i noticed that when children are distressed they want mommy and not popz and that must fel crappy!!

Yeah they recognise the voice. My OH used to sing one particular tune to my bump, and when she was born and OH held her while I was delivering the placenta, she was crying, and he started singing the tune, and she quitened instantly and just listened and watched him. It was incredible :) So yeah I definately think fathers have a bond with their little ones like that, just as long as the daddies are around etc

Thats a good idea talking to it actually have to go back and research when it will actually be able to start hearing me loool im on team :pink: i hear girls love their daddies more ;)

when I was carrying Charlie, towards the end there were times when I could spend ages trying to get him to move, and then my OH would say something & Charlie would start doing somersaults :haha:

in all the things i've read, I think they say that babies in the womb can hear from about 25 weeks, but Charlie didn't start reacting to noise until about 33/34 weeks, definitely start talking to the bump though :) x

Just like a baby knows its mom, a baby will know who its father is. My Oh constantly talks to my bump, ect, but even my sons FOB.. He wasn't around much cause he worked so much and when he was we didn't talk to each other, (wasn't a good relationship) And my son knew who he was instantly.

My daughter already knows her daddy, she wont kick when my hands on my bump but as soon as his is or she hears his voice she will kick and make sure hes paying attention to her.

They can hear a muffled version of everything the mom can. By the 3rd trimester they can clearly distiguish different voices and pitches. It's pretty cool actually. Our baby is already a daddys boy/girl. He/she kicks non-stop until he walks into the room and starts talking then it's like I shoved a tranquilizer in my uterus.

That's not true either. Every time I was crying I would cry and cry and cry for my daddy. I'm a total daddys girl. It just depends on your relationship with the baby

Molly responds like an insane person to her Daddy's voice. She definitely knows him already!

They can hear daddy from about 18 weeks apparently so if he is about a lot during the pregnancy they will recognise his voice once he is born. My little one already knows her daddy, she goes mad when he talks to my belly :cloud9: xx

Seems theres hope then lool I like vpeterman720's banner lol "now that i can open my eyes, im rolling them to prep for my teenage years"

When I was pregnant with Ava she would always kick when OH came home from work and spoke to me, he has a very deep voice so must of been easier to hear!

Now we co-sleep with her and she always trys to snuggle to her daddy, never me, but will only settle in the day with me, not him! I think by talking so they recognise your voice helps, also once they are born, I read they don't really know the difference between people until 6 weeks old. x

 oh my girl loves daddy more, no doubt about it!

Me and FOB broke up when I was pregnant and he's seen him about 25 times. From day 1 Albert's eyes would follow him round the room and he saved his first smile for when his daddy was around. He's seeing less of him now and that fascination A seemed to have has gone but he still knows!

My son is lying half asleep on the sofa with his daddy and is glued to him! sometimes i feel left out they are that close and he is still breastfeed. They do get a bond .
