How get her to take a bottle?

Robyn has been totally BF since birth when she was about 1 month old i tried her with a bottle and she took it eventually, well i havent tried again since (stupic me) and now she will not take a bottle, i've got the closer to nature teats and bottles but she will just scream.

I want to start giving a bottle of milk a day, i dont express so wouldnt really be able to express enough for a bottle so have been trying different formulas

So any advice on how to encourage her to take it? appart from untill she screams blue murder!

I need to go to a parents evening next week and i was hoping to have her taking one soon.

I was in exactly the same situation as you. Eventually, I just gave up and she has never taken one since that one time.

Poppy is nearly 8 months now and she has still never drunk milk from anything but me but she does have water from a sippy cup so I think that will be our method when/if I wean her off the boob.

Have you thought about ditching the bottles and trying a cup? Maybe not right now but in a month or two?

Do you give her the bottle? I know my LO is only 1 month but I got his dad to give him the bottle as he was looking for boob from me. Once he was taking it no probs from his dad, I started giving him a bottle with boob top up at lunch now he takes a full bottle from me.

Try with someone else feeding her and make sure you're not in the room either.
Be prepared though that as she's nearly 4m now she may not accept a bottle at all x

Poppy had a bottle of EBM every night from about 4 weeks till 4 months. Then she just started to refuse it and has not had one since. Same as Jemima, I will just give her milk in a cup once she eventually gives up on the boob

All you can try is experimenting with different bottles, not giving it to her yourself, experimenting with the temperature... It may also be worth trying to express a small amount, just to see if she will take that as opposed to formula.

This is what I did when we started giving Lucas a bottle. I made sure that my oh was the only one to give him the bottle for the first few days then I tried and he was absolutely fine thank goodness.

I always give him ebm at the same times lunchtime and the last evening feed, he does sometimes get a bit confused if I give him an extra bottle or feed him myself instead of bottle.

btw my lo didn't get on with the TT bottles & teats either. He has only had the medela ones since and he has these no problems.

I use the mam bottles for Alex and i think they work because theyre Not as close as possible to the nipple. hes not getting confused as he can tell the difference.
