how good does sperm have to be for IUI?

Hi all
My hubby had a vasectomy reversal in May 09 and we've been ttc pretty much since then. the first SA was good but the GP decided to re-test as we hadn't concieved and the tests were not good:
count 39 million/ml
motility 25%
Normal forms 5%
antibodies 95%
Hubby is doing another SA this week (from memory I think we had gone about 10days without dtd before last SA, so we'll only abstain for 48 hours this time to see if it imrpoves -he's also taking wellman conception.
Hubby and I have decided not to go for ICSI to carry on with acupuncture each and be healthier and see what happens. I am really sensitive to hormones- i can't take the pill it makes me a mad psycho so i just don't think I'd cope with ISCI.
We'd consider unmedicated IUI but I think his sperm may be too poor for that. We have our FS appt 2nd Feb.
Any thoughts?

His count sounds pretty decent.. but I think they look for 50% motility if I am not mistaken. Is your DH taking any supplements?? I would recommend he start if he's not.. things like multivitamin, omega 3, zinc, folic acid.. and cut down on drinking and no smoking if he does. From what I understand~ you need to have @ least 1 million sperm post wash for an IUI and typically there is about 1/2 left over after a wash, so averaging he might have like 20 million post wash. I hope you get your BFP!!!!

I didn't think his count was good enough for IUI, I'll keep everything crossed the next sample is improved. He is taking vitamins thanks and he doesn't drink or smoke.

We were told they like to see at least 30 million count, 50% motility and 30% morphology from our Fertility Specialist. BUT- those are what they LIKE to see. lol. It can certainly happen with less....

I've read conflicting info online about what works etc... but if there is a high count, and there are motile sperm- then there is that chance. It just takes one right? lol. I know the odds and stats can be depressing... just go in to the FS with lots of questions and they will all be answered!!!
