How likely is a late BFP?

I've had 2 online ttc friends tell me that they didn't get a BFP until 15-16dpo, so it is possible that late positive tests occur. I'm not reaching for the stars here, but am very curious as to what all you lovely ladies know to be true about implantation and testing. I ask this mainly due to the variation of timing I've found on the internet. We all know the variables due to the sensitivity of tests so that isn't part of what I'm looking for.

I have also read lots that people dont get their BFP till about week or so after their period is due. I dont know if that data is old though, before the IC sensitive tests came out. On here it seems the majority get positive tests by the time their period is due, and soooo many people get them 10dpo, 11dpo...so I always feel if I get a negative those days then I must be out.

I remember there was a girl on here who had a FS tell them that implantation is impossible after about 10dpo. Which is weird, as Ive read about so many people who get a little bleeding thinking it was their period but it was implantation bleeding. so unless these women had no idea when their period was it does seem like women can implant around their time of period (generally 14dpo)

Ive also read that HCG really varies woman to woman and some women it takes a while for it to register in the test. theres been posts from women saying they didnt get a bfp till weeks after their missed period.

so I dont have much info, sorry, but just wanted to say I think it is very possible. are you 15-16dpo yourself? good luck :flower:

I was wondering the same thing...but then I found conflicting info...

thats very interesting! conflicting info on same site.

heres some more data

https://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/

according to that data which is from pregnant women it looks like most people get their bfps before period date. on 13/14 dpo less than 20% got negatives but were pregnant.

I dont know if Id rely tooooo much on these internet stats. The above link also has a symptoms list, but I think a lot of non pregnant people have entered their symptoms so it defeats the purpose.

Thank you both very much for responding. I figured that since the beta I ran at possibly 12dpo was neg that I'm just later than normal.

SarahinCanada Today I am possibly 14dpo.

Indigo77 I tend to believe FF seeing as how there are charts to back up their statistics.

So the verdict, at least for me, is I'm waiting on AF and will probably not waste a test in the AM. Last cycle I was anxious because AF came later and tested like crazy. That's just to much stress and I already know that at 12-ish-dpo hcg was not detectible via blood testing.

Exactly... It's frustrating, even though the people who enter those symptoms mean well.

just wondering- are you doing blood tests at home? are they more accurate?

I found these posts online:

"I didn't get a positive until after I'd missed a 2nd period. I don't remember the exact dates, but I had AF in late Jan, no AF in Feb, and tested pos in late March (after AF should have come the 2nd time) after testing neg several times in late Feb and early March. I had a dating ultrasound b/c my periods can be a little wonky and we weren't sure when in those 2 months DS had been conceived, but from the US it looked like he was conceived in mid-Feb before the 1st missed AF. "

"According to EPT, my 15yo doesn't exist. I was a month and a half pregnant, took a test and it was negative. I was so relieved. I went to the health dept to get on the pill in order to avoid future scares like that and found out I was prego. Oops."

"With dc 1, NEVER I popped neg even the day at 4 months when I went to the doc, with dc 2, 23 dpo, and I was charting I KNEW when we conceived, I think I tied with another lady at Ovusoft for the longest waits for the +, we both got them at 23 dpo, lol"

"For my first pregnancy, my period was due on the 17th, pregnancy test on the 20th was negative, pregnancy test on the 25th was positive. :p "

that settles it for me...i'll test a little bit early, on sunday...even though i don't feel any differently...

i have a load of epts, so why not?

plus, i'd like to have a bit of wine with easter dinner...
