I am going away for the day tomorrow so want to prepare 3 bottles for LO. When I take them out the steam steriliser and put my milk in and put them in the fridge how long do the bottles stay sterilised for?

Thanks x

I know some people will leave them for up to 24 hours, but me personally I always use any bottle I've made within 12 hours. You can also just seal up the bottle itself and make the formula (or pour in breast milk) as you need it if it's the sterilising you're trying to do in advance rather than making the bottle itself (this is usually what I do).

Thanks, think I will make the bottles first thing in the morning then x

i will use mine up to 24 hrs. i make 3 bottles at night and they are the 3 for the next day....

Our bottle steriliser takes 4 bottles so i make 4 bottles in the evening ready for the next day and use them within 24 hours! Once out of he fridge you are meant to use them within 2 hours! :)

Read the back of the formula pot. Once you've made up a bottle with milk it must be used within 2 hours!! After that time bacteria will start growing and make your baby Ill

As for how long the bottles stay sterile in the fridge for its 24 hours.

Hope I've helped. X

... This is when making up bottles to use fresh.

We all know we shouldn't make bottles in advace, but sometimes needs must. There are guidlelines for such situations. See link below. Page 3 onwards deals with making up milk feeds in advance in the home.

In situations like that I just take the cooled boiled water out in the bottles and put the formula for the bottles into an avent dispenser. The water will be fine for 24 hrs as long as you keep it all sealed. Just add the powder as you go to use it so theres less chance of the milk going off as its been out of the fridge for too long x

ETA: i always make up formula in advance and rapid cool and store in the fridge, i use it within 24 hours but generally wont give LO any milk thats been out of the fridge for more than 2hrs x

Trust me hun, there's plenty of us who pre make bottles. I've got a nearly 4 year old and a ten month old who have both survived from pre made and fridge stored formula.

Sorry, just realised i read it wrong and that ur going out but LO isnt...in that case then yeah, i'd just prepare the bottles for the day and keep them in the fridge til thy are needed x
