Hi all, I had my D&C/ERPC (no idea what the difference is but I had a missed mc) yesterday. The bleeding has nearly stopped and everything went fine. I'm still very sad  but trying to stay positive and know that we both want to try again but not sure how soon to try and whether having a mc makes any difference to how long it will take to concieve again?? I'm also petrified of how I will feel if we do make another baby but don't want to stop trying? ...I'm so confused - I feel like I should be getting on with my life but still feel like I'm having a baby and want it to happen again quickly but in reality know that it could take ages even thought we got pregnant within a week of trying ....oh I wish I could sort my head out :hissy:

so sorry for your loss. i have never miscarried so i can only imagine what you are going through. i am sure you will be able to make a decision on when to try again after a few weeks or months have passed. also, i am sure it wont take long for you to conceive a second time as it didnt take long the first time. good luck!

Sorry to hear about your loss. It is a very confusing time with lots of mixed emotions. It felt like a rush to get on with ttc, but we took a month or 2 out and I am glad, as it gave us time to grieve and sort ourselves out, both mentally and physically....but many on here go straight on with trying, so its whatever feels right for you.

We got pregnant first cycle last time too, but have now been trying since feb with no joy, so it's hard to predict what will happen. Others on here say they got pregnant straight away after mc...so there's just no pattern. Technically medically, there is no effect on your fertility by having had a mc.

Just FYI, a d+c is an old-fashioned term (A 'dilatation + curretage') for an old operation where the cervix was dilated and then tissue 'scraped' out. This was most commonly done to get tissue samples of the lining of the womb to see why someone had heavy periods for example (not necessarily anything to do with mc, although I suppose it was the way they used to treat mc too). Everyone (nearly) has heard of d+c so often the term is still used, even though its not technically not the right one to use anymore.

Anyway, enough of the science!

I think its natural to feel confused about how we will feel when we get pregnant again (positive mental attitude that we will) and am sure there will be some nervous times, especially around scans (mine was a missed mc too) etc but all we can do is take each day as it comes.

My thoughts are with you. Good luck with whatever decisions you make.x

Hello,
I'm so sorry for your loss.
After my mmc I also had a D&C and dr advised I wait 6 MONTHS!!!! I did as I was told and fell again on 6th month. I had a natural miscarriage with this baby.
At that point I was desperado and fell pg agin before I even had a period. I miscarried again.
3 months later I was pg again. My little girl was born but sadly she died suddenly aged 6 weeks.
At this point I was desperate and fell pg again less than 3 months after a classical section against all advise. This resulted in a perfectly healthy daughter, followed ledd than 2 years later by a healthy son.

I am now exepecting again but I am laden with problems and expecting the worst.

I think what I'm trying to say is physically it doesn't make a difference - try again when you are mentally ready.

Take care
Kelly
