How long does child benefit take usually?

We moved back to the Uk when LO was 3 months in Nov. I applied fir CB once we were settled so early - mid Dec. I had a letter saying bank details were wrong in Jan so I sent the correct ones but still no money. I have phoned and got told it had gone to a special dept coz we'd come from abroad (even tho me, oh & lo are all Brits). Just fed up of waiting now.

Also I heard they can backdate it a max of 3 months - I applied well within that time frame but it's well more than 3months since we became entitled to it now so I'm scared well miss out on some.

I would call again if I was you.
It only took mine about 3 weeks but obviously that was just standard child benefit,didnt have to go to any special departments or anything.

Well I dug out the phone number last night and was planning to phone this afternoon but I arrived home and had a letter from them waiting

They are backdating it to when we got back to the uk

Just need to get his child trust fund voucher now....

If you don't mind me asking were did you move back from? I am pregnant with No.2 and I am re-locating back from Netherlands. So i need to start all this process in around 10 weeks... argggh.

We came back from Switzerland - I think its slightly easier from EU countries

Yes I hope so, but I am worried when I apply for child benefit as my son's birth certificate is in dutch and at the moment he has only a dutch passport, so I am not sure if I need to get those translated?

George's birth certificate was in 4 languages (german, french, italian & english) so luckily I didn't have to consider translating it.

Oh thats so easy, everything is made difficullt in Holland ... arggh.

I am due to arrive in the UK in May so i think i maybe give a benefits advise a call and ask if I need to get that translated as it may well delay things alot for me.

I also have just moved from spain back to the uk. My daughter is 9 and was born in the uk and previously had child benefit when we lived here. I sent my forms off about 6 weeks ago. i had a letter 2 weeks ago and they asked for my daughters birth cerificate. I havent recieved it back or heard anything. How long in totoal did it take yours to go through please

How many weeks in total did it take. ive just moved back to uk in july. i sent my forms off in august. Its driving me mad!! I had to send the birth certificate 2 weeks ago but not had it back yet.
