How long for semen smaple results?

Hi

Bit of advice if anyone knows please, my hubby has to give his sample tomorrow, how long is it before he can get his results? Do they allow ua to ring up and get them over the telephone? We have not got our proper consultation until the end of January and would like to get hte reulsts before then really in preperation.

Hey Chocci

Depends who it is through chick.

Through the GP it took 3-5 days and DH rang them up and they had a consultant with him over the phone (DR to him) but i know it does vary.

He has to do one through the FS next week and he gets his results same day.

Which one is it through?x

He is going to the fertility clinic where i have had all my tests. He never went to do GP one, kept putting it off, now he has to do one at clinic and i said to him if you had just gone to docs you probably wouldnt have to go to clinic to do one unless there was something wrong, is that right?

yeah i guess so - we went thru the GP and i had my CD5 and CD21 bloods done at the same time DH had his first SA. My results were okay but his weren't so he did a 2nd SA a month later which showed no improvement. Then we got referred to the fertility clinic.

Having said that i do know where girl-friends have had ovulation issues and at the fertility clinic their OHs still did an SA to make sure all was in working order. Think the FS do a more thorough work up.

Hope you don't have to wait too long for the results chick and i hope even more that they are perfect xx

Thanks Rachelle I hope so too! If he is OK doesnt look like there is too much bad with me as i am o'ing and no blockages spotted on HSG......so if he is clear i have no idea what on earth we are doing wrong after 15 months lol

Good luck with your weight loss too, i am joinging you on the health kick figure i could defo do with losing 1/2 to 1 stone might help with the baby making! hehe

You never know! I've put on 20lb since starting TTC! that went very wrong!!!

I'm sure his test will be fine hun but you know if there are any issues, there are plenty of people here you can talk to and there are always good options - hope that doesn't sound doom and gloom - just want you to be happy either way

Thanks hun.......i am not sure wether it would bother me if it was him with a problem really, sounds daft but my parents have grandchildren curtisy of my sister but his parents keep going on and on and on about us giving them a grandchild, it really started to stress me out, particularly as i convinced myself there was somethinf really wrong with me but so far not found that much apart from thin womb lining. Anyways, fongers crossed for him being OK and thanks i will be back for a maon and a winge if it isnt, and making sure he starts eating healthy with hte rest of us! lol x

oh no chocci dont beat yourself up over it...gp's and FS are funy buggers. I practically forced my Oh to get his SA done at GP...thinking that it will stay on his records....he had 2 done as firstwas abit funny. Then at the FS appointment the dumb asshole dr said he needed him to do one here as they wont accept those done at Gp...I argued that the dr i saw first time in clinic didnt mention anything....so now he has to go to this hospital...but we left that one now and have been referred to another one who thankfully accepts his ones from GP!! The only all MY tests that I had done at the first hospital are left there and now I have to have eveyrthing done again at this ne hospital as they have no record of it unless te old one sends it over ........who are taking the piss by taking forever so I have given up on them now.

Got to admit tryingforever, that it seems that fertility clinics all have very differnt rules and procedures. Would make sence to me if they all did the same thing in the UK??? MY GP also kept saying my hubby had to do a sample but then he had to do one at the Fertility clinic anyway???? So what was the point of them asking??? I am going to start a thread about my hubbies experience giving his sample as to be fair i was amased at how little care they take of our men and wondered if anyone else had had the same experience.
