I have a follow up scan booked for next week, but considering how far behind my scan was and the fact I'm certain of my dates I'm expecting bad news. I'm hoping that I will be able to go down the surgical management route as I had issues with a retained products and sepsis 2 weeks after my second baby was born.

Do they always offer surgical management? (in UK with pregnancy measuring 7weeks)

How long would it take from confirming miscarriage to having the operation?

How long from confirmation to being admitted for medical management?

Hi Hun...

I was similar to you, went for a scan & baby way too small but with heartbeat, week later revealed baby died...

That was Tuesday & I booked surgical removal for Saturday...I'm sure if I pushed they woke have done it sooner. You Shouldn't have to wait a few days..

Lots of hugs to yo x

Went in for a scan cause of spotting at i think 10+4 and found out that babys heartbeat had srtopped most likely around 6 weeks..I started heavy bleedind at 11weeks and have stopped now since yesterday (should be 13 weeks tomorrow)

Hi hon. I had a mmc, was found at 12 weeks but baby only measured 8+6. I asked about surgery but they said they didn't usually offer it. I was offered medical or natural and i opted for medical. Took pills immediately and then two days later spent a day in hospital had pessaries and passed baby, was far less difficult than I'd imagined. Was all over in less than 48 hrs from diagnosis x

I was offered surgical at 8.5 weeks (baby measuring 7) with my second but not with my first. They were in different hospitals.

I'm wondering if my hospital will be the same in offering just medical (we are in the Midlands too- Redditch to be specific). Where you alone in the hospital? Side room? Multiple bedded bay?

I'm guessing my DH would need to stay at home with kids and I'd go in alone.

Celesse I am East Midlands And I didn't get surgical Management till my 5th & 6th mc, the previous 4 were all naturals, they didn't really want me to have a D&C, this will be due to cost no doubt, but I put my foot down as I wanted chromosome tests, still managed to balls that up to with my 5th mc, no6 was a little normal girl :(

With my D&C I had to spend about 3 hours up in Gyna assessment unit, my OH comes
For first hour or so, then they take me to the ward at Bout 1, in theatre by 2.30, out by 3 and back on ward. I normally get dressed as soon as I can, don't ask permission, then I tell
Them I'm ready to go and get OH to collect me. I get a room on my own.

I'm not sure about medicAl management thou what the process is

Xx

I'm in East Midlands and both times been offered natural, pesseries or surgical. chosen surgical both times.

I can't belive they wouldn't offer you that! It's your choice what you want at the end of the day and it should be at least offered.

Lots of love to you all xx

Aim they really steered me away from a D&C, I'm sure its all linked to cost. A D&C costs NHS about £2k I think it was.

I flat out refused to suffer any more after 4 naturals, really horrific time with the 4th and I weren't going there again in a hurry

What hospital do you go to? I will be pee'd off its the same as me, lol

I was Qmc Hun...

Are you kingsmill or city?

X

Derby Royal for me, I am part under them now but have also seen a specialist consultant In surrey, on NHS, derby don't know about my referal as docs did it :)

I was in a multi bedded bay but no one else there. We had a telly and oh stayed the whole time. The bathroom was very close and there were lots of pads and bowls to put over the loo. After the pessaries I had to do everything in the bowls and then buzz the nurse to take it away so they new what had gone. Sounds really embarrassing but really wasn't that bad! The first bit we were waiting for the pessaries, then a few hours of nothing happening, then 2ish hours of a bit of period pain and passing stuff. Once I passed the baby I felt a lot better, it was just a bit of blood and clots after that. I was sent home with pain killers after dinner, picked our dd up from the childminder by 6. We are near derby so a way away. We went to burton hospital but my friend was offered surgical at derby so I think it really varies. Overall I'm glad I had medical cos I saw the baby and felt everything and it wasn't that bad. I think I'd have always wondered and felt detached if I'd had d and c. Any questions you have please pm me, however gory!! Xxxx

I e stumbled across a load of local girls, I live near Notts/Derby, work in Burton & Swadlincote too

He he there are lots of us! I'm in Tutbury, work in derby x

Think I was spoilt last time, had a private room & everything...I hate wards...something about people watching you sleep, eat an talk freaks me out!

X

I'm currently thinking I'll go for medical management. OH will be at home with the children (or out on a day trip as I'm trying to encourage him as a distraction). I'll load my kindle with books, fully charge my phone for playing games (for the start of the day) and once it starts hurting demand a whack load of pain killers.

I'm also thinking of hitting my Aromatherapy kit and putting together a miscarriage blend. If Clary Sage is good for labour I'd imagine it would be good for miscarriage along with some super relaxation scents.

Sounds like a plan Celesse....I went in on my own as we've just got a puppy an i thought hubby was better with him than sat waiting for meto come out of surgery..he came to pick me up & sat with me after surgery tho bless him x

Yes sounds like a plan! Make it as pleasant a day as you can. I really didn't find it so bad. Id been feeling so exhausted for months I was glad to lie down for a few hours! There were a couple of scary moments but the pain really wasn't that bad. I took codeine just to make my head go fuzzy but I could have easily coped with none at all, and the bleeding wasn't that bad either. I got some nice food and read magazines and watched telly. Take your phone too, there was free wi fi in the hospital. You can just message us all day :) xxx

So looks like my hospital have a bit of a different regime.

I'll be going in tomorrow. I had bloods done today (full blood count I think). Tomorrow I'll be waiting for the doctor to come and consent me and prescribe the meds. I'll be given 4 pessaries there and then and will wait on the ward for about 15mins afterwards. Then I'll be sent home and will likely miscarry at home over the next 3 days. Apparently with this regime some women start bleeding almost straight away, but a few need further a pessary a few days later.

They would have done things today but I was alone with the kids and was planning on getting the bus home! OH has taken tomorrow off work to ferry me to and from the hospital and look after the children. He's also warned work he might need to pop home on Friday if I start actively miscarrying then.

I'm really glad I'll be at home when I start passing things. The privacy of my own bathroom sounds much preferable than a hospital..... plus I always find water great for period pain and labour pain and the water at hospital is never quite as warm as at home.

Just waiting for DS's nap time to make up some aromatherapy oils. Probably Clary Sage for uterine contractions and Neroli, chamomile & geranium to help with relaxation. I'm also gonna start supping some raspberry leaf tea if I have any.
