Hi everyone!

I just had my 2nd ds via scheduled section 11 days ago. He was breech from 31 weeks and because of complications I was not a candidate for ecv. My first ds was a vaginal delivery.

with my first, I gained 25lbs and I had no trouble slimming down and was in pre-preg clothes by 6 weeks postpartum. I came home from hospital with 5lbs left to lose.

This time, my tummy is much more poofy and I still look at least 5 months pregnant. I gained 30lbs, but have only lost about 10. How long does it take to get to some semblance of normal? Is there anything that can help? Is this typical of c section?

I'm nursing, but is there anything else I can do?

I think everyone is different, but they say to give yourself 9 months-1 year to get your body back. I was 105 lbs pre-pregnancy, gained ~33 lbs, and came home from hospital at ~117 lbs. Within 2-3 months I was 'mostly' back to normal, but with an extra 5 lbs or so, and a very tiny tummy (only noticeable to me, when I wear super close fitting shirts. After 5 months, I'm at my pre-preg weight, but still don't have my flat stomach back, but I also haven't worked out at all, and only BF (part-time) for 3 weeks. I think it just takes time, and if I want my shape back, I think I'm gonna have to hit the gym...it's hard to find the time, and I think if I was back at work it would be easier, since I could just work out before/after work, but as a SAHM, finding the time is hard.

Give yourself time to heal...11 days is really early, still! Your body has been through a lot and it'll take some time to bounce back. Some is probably water weight and will come off in time without you doing much. BF will definitely help too. And working out, but wait a few months and start slow!

I went back down thinner than before after my section but this was about 9 months after and 7 months of breast feeding, ive allways been a size 8-10 but went down to a 6-8 , this is without going to the gym or excerise hobbies so it can be done, i guess everyone if different but you do need to give yourself a while to heal so dont worry just take it easy for a bit x

ps - I remember my feet going like elephant feet after birth for a few days they would wobble lol, im guessing its just water as it went LOL

Have you thought about buying an abdominal binder, it will help. I used one for each of my C sections. Good luck!

I was enormous after birth for a good few weeks.

Now 8 months later I'm the weight I was at starting ivf. I'm feeling more myself body wise. I haven't done too much exercise and I'm still eating most of what I want. I do find myself quite busy with my baby though.

You have two things working against you here. Second baby and c-section. C-sections do take longer sometimes to go back to normal. I lost all of my weight very rapidly after mine but it took me a very long time to look normal again.

after my 1st section, (i had put 4 stone on!) it took 2 years to go back to normal...

2nd section i put 2 stone on and took about 6 months to shift...

3rd section, i hardly put much weight on (18lbs) and i also breastfed her, within a week i was back to normal pre-pregnancy size!.. It was amazing and i was in utter shock, as normally for me it takes sooooo long...

Every body is different though.. maybes do some light exercises? x

Thank you all so much! I think I was rushing to judgement when I posted. I'm now 4 weeks post c section and have 13lbs to go. Even though the scale number says I haven't lost much, my stomach is getting flatter by the day. I have a bit of a pooch but it's not even noticeable with clothes on. Thank you all so much for your encouragement and support and tips :) I plan to start exercising after my 6 week checkup!

i'm one of those ladies that everyone hates.
my first I gained 15lbs, had to be induced at 36 week due to iugr which ended in a section. lost all but 6lbs with in 2 weeks, about 2 days after having my section my tummy was pretty much back down to pre-pregnancy, I was measuring 29cm though.

my second was an elective, again gained 15lbs, lost all but 6lbs again with in a week, had my pre-pregnancy belly next day.
even the midwife that checked me over the morning after my section was surprised at how quickly everything went back.

I wouldn't worry too much, everyone is different.

I did the same. My midwife said it will take 6 weeks for the swelling to go down and it did. Week 7 I could fit in my jeans

I swelled while pregnant and somehow swelled even worse after my cs. It took a few weeks but it finally went away. At least the he water anyways. ;)
