We were together for 14 months when OH proposed and we will have been together for 3 and a half years by the time we get married! Even though we had talked about getting married in the future, I was still really surprised when he proposed and I love that he had planned it all and I was oblivious! It wouldn't have been as exciting if I was just waiting for him to do it!

Perhaps he is waiting until you least expect it?

Imma be the party pooper and say that I don't think setting a wedding in 2015 is actually "engaged" engaged. No place is actually going to let you book the date for then (although maybe the very, very elite places might?). I was just allowed to book my venue and we get married in a year. It sounds to me like he is just trying to please you, and I honestly think a year is a pretty short amount of time. I consider engagement to be when both people are actively interested in pursuing the goal of a wedding, which it doesn't seem like he is YET. I think people who are engaged but getting married in a few years are just engaged to be engaged. (Except those who good reasons to wait). This is just my opinion though~! Don't let me rain on your parade.

To answer your question, my fiance and I started dating in Jan. 2008, though we didn't really act like it until towards the end of that year. We became engaged Oct. 2009, but that sort of fell through and we became engaged again between Feb to May of 2011, although it wasn't an official proposal. He gave me the ring and told me he "would" propose, and somehow it turned into we were getting married next year. He tells everyone he proposed to me on the moon.

So, we were together about 3 to 3.5 years before we were actually engaged (by my own standards) and we will be getting married 4 years and 7 months after he first asked me out.

fell pregnant with dd in June 2007, gave birth feb 2008

fell pregnant with ds in jan 2009, gave birth oct 2009

i used to tell him all the time i wanted to get married.. like nearly everyday.. Think it scared him lol.

He told me from the beguining he didnt want to marry.,

then in july this year he whisked me away to new york for my 21st, and proposed! i knew it was coming, because id dint shut up i ruined it!

so he proposed just before are 5 year anniversary. but like he said, he didnt want to do everything in the first five years, because then whats left to enjoy? just getting old.

dont push him, and he will do it!
