How long?

36 hours! It felt like 36 days! I ended up having forceps due to 'overly long' second stage????

Active labour is from 4cm dilated until birth.

In total, my labour lasted for nearly 30 hours (with around 22 - 25 hours active labour!). I lost my plug around nine o'clock at night on the Sunday night and immediately started getting contractions. By about 11 o'clock I was getting three contractions every ten minutes lasting for about ninety seconds. When I went into the Midwife Unit at around 2 in the morning, they said I was just over 4cm dilated. Then my labour slowed down (I was still getting three long contractions every 10 minutes all the way through) and I gave birth at 11.51 on the Monday night.

I was induced and the minute they started it I was having contractions. I was in labour for 30 hours before having to have a csection.

16 1/2 hours, would of been longer but I wouldn't dilate anymore so they just decided to do a c-section

I was in slow labour all day.Active labour for 3.5 hours :happydance: one of the lucky ones! Although not sure how they worked out my active labour time as when i went in first time round I was 1.5cm so they sent me home, when I went back I was 8cm!! Think they might have just made up a number

well i never made it past 3 bloody cm's  for me it was 40hours of god awful contractions, during which time the hospital actually sent me home and spent the whole night with constant contractions and terrible pain  after 40hours i was still 3cm and ended up with c-section :dohh: it has to be said i'm not normally one for the dramatics and was pretty shocked how mine turned out x

Active labour for about 2 ish hours :)

I had my waters broken at 5.20pm, contractions started at 5.45pm, Lexie was born at 12.02am. 6 hours 17 minutes from start to finish with 1 hour and 2 minutes of pushing!
Reading everyone elses posts i think i was one of the lucky ones!

I was having pains for 2 days but I don't think they classed that as ''being in labour'' so from 4pm to 2:39am when I had her. :) Not very long.

About 36 in total before it was decided a c-section would be a better option. was so painful but worth every minute.

From the time I was induced it was 18 hours before I ended up needing to get a c-section.

i was in labour for 21 hours ish, and about a week of slow labour, or at least thats what i think, as i had contractions that would stop then one night they went from 10 mins right down to 2 and half mis with in 10 mins or so i went straight to hospital and was 5 cm i cant of gone from 0 to 5 in 1 hour!!!!1 thats the longest part so i must of been dilating for the previous week lol. xxx

With my first I was induced and like Pinkmac said from the minute they started the pitocin I started to have contractions... after 6 days of that and 2 days with broken waters, I demanded a c-section... and got it within hours
