How long....

Generally, people say 12 months or more. This is when a doctor will start looking into fertility issues. It's perfectly normal to take up to 12 months to conceive, after all, so six months, seven months, even ten months, it might seem like a long time but in terms of TTC it's actually not.

A 'long time' is different to different people. I didn't consider it a 'long time' until about 18 months had passed to be honest.

People who say "FINALLY I am pregnant after 4/5 months" are taking the piss a bit, though, when you consider that some people have been trying for ten years. After so long time starts blending into nothing, though. Five months feels like nothing to me, these days...

Well we ahve been trying for 2 and a half years and I would class that as long time! I think it depends on the invididual but docs put long term TTC at about 12 - 18 months!
Hope that this helps

 They have no idea do they, i havent been trying too long as yet few mths and only just started temping so really you could say i just started ttc, and i see how frustrating it can be just after a few mths with the ladies and i can only imagine how it will be 18mths to 2yrs down the line,:muaha: here here to ladies who kp up there spirits and never give up :hug: and :bfp: to you all asap
:ban: the :witch: xox

I guess I would say over 1 year is the time to start considering there might be an issue, however, that depends on age. If you are over 40...I wouldn't wait past 6mths if you KNOW you are hitting the right days. I would see a DR to make sure all is well.

a doctor will see you after a year of ttc. but we werent referred for help until ttc for 3 years coz we r young, depends on age x

I watched a program with a fertility specialist and she said that if you have been trying for 6 months with OPks and temping etc and timed BD.. then you should go to a doc already, otherwise after a year if you have been trying without timed BD..

We actually went to FS after 8 months as I just had gut feel we had a problem and we did as we need to do IVF.. we have been trying for 17 months now, 4 IUIs later - and no hint of a BFP

Good luck hun

Hey Hun, I 'd say 12 months unless you have known fertility issues? I can still remember it feeling like we had been trying ages at 7 months especially when so many girls seemed to fall so effortlessly. It's all relative though if you have
nothing to compare it to.
Hope your wait isn't too long :hugs:

I've known people to go to the doctor for 'help' after three or four months of trying when a little bit of research would've told them that this was perfectly normal. Needless to say they fell pregnant the following month without even having to resort to OPKs, temping and the like.

Still had the nerve to say to me, of all people (i.e. protection-free since December 2005 and she knew it) "I didn't think it'd take THIS long."
