Hiya,

Sid is 11 weeks old now (although is a slow weight gainer, weighed 8lb 10ozs on monday) and i've just started him on formula after breastfeeding....
He's on aptimal 1 and has about 4 or 5 ounces every 4 hours. Does this sound about right??
Also it takes him nearly an hour to drink it? Seems like a long time, although he used to feed for that long on the breast?
Also we are using closer to nature bottles and i've noticed when he's feeding his eyes water, anyone else have this?

Thanks

Joe has always been a quick drinker and takes his bottle in 10 minutes. He was abit slower til we moved him onto a bigger teet - we're now on the Avent size 2 teets which makes the milk flow quicker. That may help him drink abit quicker.
I seem to remember that Joe was on about 5 or 6 oz at 11 weeks, but he feeds every 3 hours during the day and sleeps through, so has 5 or 6 bottles a day.
Hope that helps x

My LO is a gannet who eats about 5 to 6 oz every 3 to 4 hours except at night when she will go 6 hours.

You might want to use a size 2 teet or variflow - especially if he has been breast feeding. My LO likes her milk quickly and always hated size 1 teets.

We used ctn bottles and her eyes didn't water!

Hope this helps

Thank you, tried size 2 teats and he's much happier x

My LO takes over an hour to finish his bottle but he's only 2 weeks old, I dont want to move up to faster teats though :?

That sounds about right. My little girl is a few weeks older than your baby boy; she's just over 15 weeks and eats roughly 5-6oz every 4-5 hours. She normally takes around 15 minutes to finish a bottle.
