heya ladies, have been told at my scan i have low fluid.
'single pocket 3.2cm' what does this mean?
im so paranoid, they were talking about arranging an induction soon if its still low at my next scan but now ive been reading anything under 5cm is cause for emergency delivery?
:( now im so worried as they haven't explained anything to me.

Hi hun, I think single pocket also means deepest pocket? The 5 cm that they usually refer to is AFI - Amniotic Fluid Index and is calculated by taking measurements from the 4 quadrants of the amniotic sac, deepest/single pocket is usually just one of those calculations. My hospital only seem to do deepest pocket measurements - not sure why. 3.2 doesn't sound too bad if you think that there would be 3 other measurements needed to make it up to the 5cm minimum if that makes sense?!

Believe me - if it was bad news or too low they would tell you (I lost all my waters at 20 weeks last pregnancy) if they were concerned they would have you back for another scan. If it was bad news you would already have a care plan.

Its such a shame that no one explained it to you and you have had worry over it.

hi, a single deepest pool/pocket should measure at least 4cm, so youre not too far under xx
