How many things can i be high risk for?

My first son nearly died due to IUGR not being picked up (despite me telling them all my symptoms)and was induced due to PE at 39 weeks - and was 4 llb born.

We lost our second son due to PPROM (at 20.6 weeks born at 27.1 weeks - died 4 hours later).


THIS pregnancy - I have the shadow of PPROM hanging over me. My bp is high although holding for now. I have a 1 in 15 risk of down syndrome. and NOW ...

... today I had a scan at 24 weeks and they found that the placenta isnt working properly - and that I have 'notches' in my umbilcal artery... and they said normally it would be 50/50 if this would cause problems but because of my history they said that I am now very high risk for pre eclampsia and IUGR. consultant asked when my next mw appointment was - when I said 4 weeks he told me to make one earlier which scared me.

... this totally freaks me out after what happened to my first son - his heartbeat went to 40 and at some points it dropped of the trace and it was touch and go if he would make it through the section.

I just hate going to fetal meds - as everytime I go they find something else to make me 'high risk'.

Hey hun, i'm sorry to hear of your dificult time, and the loss of your baby! I don't have specific advice for you as have only experienced Pre E with preg number one and pih with third, however bp has always settled back to normal after birth. Talk things over with your m/w, and maybe booking an earlier apt will be good for you as you get to listen to bubs heart beat which may help reasssure you. Sorrry i cant be of any help hun. Im sorry you are having such a rough time. Unfortunately some people are unlucky enough to be high risk with lots of different factors.

Its scary, I have 3 preemies, have had HELLP syndrome, epilepsy, hyperthyroid, placenta previa and PPROM in my history, so im with you on the millions of appointments, but its really really good that they are keeping a close eye on you!

*hugs* I'm sorry sugar! Sounds familiar. I have twins, GD and now high blood pressure. Doing 24 hour urine now to check protein for Pre-E. It's all be worth it in the end when we see our beautiful babies!

Have they tested you for Lupus/Hughes Syndrome? This could cause most of the problems you mention. I have a similar history, all in my last pregnancy (twins, pPROM at 14+5 weeks, PE at 21 weeks, delivery at 23+5) and have now been diagnosed with Lupus and Hughes Syndrome.
