Does anyone know how much it takes to benefit baby? Im only pumping 5oz 😢😢 im gutted and so close to giving up but only because its taking so much time and I feel like it may be pointless! Is it worth it?

how old is LO? IF she is young 5oz could be loads!! Any and all breast milk is beneficial but only you can decide if you are ignoring her needs too much because you are attached to the pump all the time.

Shes 10 weeks old.i try pump when shes asleep or has just been fed but its getting harder now that shes waking more

Is she taking anything from your breasts? I'm a bit confused, are you asking if 5oz isn't worth it for a freezer stash or to feed her with straight away? Is this 5oz over 24hrs or from one pumping session?

Ah sorry I should have been clearer. Im only pumping 5oz total! She went on nursing strike at 6 weeks and wont feed from me since. I even saw a lactation consultant who told me i needed to supplement cause she way way too upset. Anyway my supply more than halved so i was wondering, in terms of immunological effects, is it worth the hassle for 5 oz?

If it was me, I'd say it's worth it but only you can weigh that up for yourself. 5oz a day is definitely way better than nothing!

I don't know if you're up for trying again, but if you are, you might be successful now with nipple shields (the meleda ones with the cut out are best I think). A lot of babies suddenly take to the breast again as they get older and she'll be much more successful at getting milk than a pump. But again, only you can know if that's worth the hassle.
