how much do you express?

started trying to express a few days ago as i though it would be handy for oh to give layla the odd feed, but i was just wondering how much do you manage to express? first day i managed almost 2oz then the day after about 1oz and then today i did about 2 oz again but it was alot quicker today. how long does it take to start being able to express a good amount? how much did you manage to express at first and how much now? Im only doing it once a day as dont have the time to be doing any more at the moment.

i express most days now and i used to only be able to get 1oz if i was lucky lol, i looked up on google how to express and found out i was doing it wrong, i now get 4oz every time, could prob get more but i get bored lol

how were you doing it wrong? do you just use your hands to do it? i bought a tommee tippee pump, but not sure how good it is.. hmmmm... ooh how long did it take you to get up to 4 oz? x

no i wasnt using my hands, i was using my pump, but i was doing it too fast, you have to have the suction low and the speed low to mimic the babys suck, i was doing highest suction quickly lol

also, if i sometimes get the position of the nipple thing (you know the bit that goes inside the spout thing of the pump) in the wrong place, it is really hard to get milk out

it usually takes me about 20mins to get 4oz

What pump are u using hun? im having SAME probs!! just expressed for 20 mins and got 1 1/2 oz and a sore nipple!! x

do you have an electric pump? mines just a hand pump one..! i usually do it pretty slow and sometimes loads comes out but sometimes i get zilch!! i hope it gets easier... such a palava just for 1 bloomin ounce, and then theres all the sterilising malarky!! x

no i dont have an electric one yet, i dunno what my manual one is called, its like semi automatic, it is battery powered but then u have to press the button down over and over and over and over lol (can u tell it annoys me lol) to do the suction bit, just do a search on google for how to express or something like that, the video i saw should come up and hopefully you'll have better luck

ps im only getting an electric because i plan on starting to express a lot more and i cant be arsed with all the pressing of the button 6x a day but manual really is easy once u get the hang of it, for a few times a day anyway

we do have the best taste in names indeed lol... all these laylas/leylas/leilas are guna be the brainiest girls in england with all this boobie juice they're getting thankyou for the advice anyways! guna google it once she's off the boob... one handed typing is too bloomin slow!!

do it first thing in the morning as your milk is at its peak, i do it once a day first thing and get a good 6oz feed, when i try in the afternoon it doesnt seem to work! i have the tommee tippee manual pump and a Medula electric, both are good just the electric is quicker xxx

The most ive ever been able to pump, with either electric or hand held is 3 ounces, usually 2 and a half, wish I could get more but think that is my limit! I know some people just cant pump a huge amount.
