The other thread about weight got me thinking. How much does everything weigh all together? Baby (obviously everyone's differentlol), placetna, water, etc?

If you put on 29lbs, it can apparently be broken down like this:
Blood 3 pounds
Breasts 2 pounds
Womb 2 pounds
Baby 7.5 pounds
Placenta 1.5 pounds
Amniotic fluid 2 pounds
Fat, protein & other nutrients 7 pounds
Retained water 4 pounds

just found this

By the time you come to give birth, you'll be carrying quite a cargo! Just over a third of your extra weight will come from your baby, the placenta and the amniotic fluid. Here are some averages to give you an idea of how much they weigh:

* At birth, a baby weighs about 3.3kg (7.3lb).
* The placenta, which keeps your baby nourished, weighs 0.7kg (1.5lb).
* The amniotic fluid, which supports and cushions your baby, weighs 0.8kg (1.8lb).

But what about the other two thirds of extra weight? These can be accounted for by the changes that happen to your body while you're pregnant. Again, the figures are averages:

* The muscle layer of your uterus (womb) grows dramatically and weighs an extra 0.9kg (2lb).
* Your blood volume increases and weighs an extra 1.2kg (2.6lb).
* You have extra fluid in your body weighing about 1.2kg (2.6lb).
* Your breasts weigh an extra 0.4kg (0.9lb).
* You'll store fat, about 4kg (8.8lb), to give you energy for breastfeeding (Murray and Hassall 2009: 214).

By the end of pregnancy you may weigh about 12.5kg (27.6lb) more than you did before you became pregnant. Remember that this is only an average weight gain

I have already exceeded 27.6lbs...... Eeeeek!

not to worry it says its only an average and they are giving it as the average baby weighing 7lb 3oz and a lot of babies weigh more than this im sure you are fine :flower:
I havent managed to weigh myself for a while cus our flippin scales have ran out of battery lol

I dont ever weigh myself just know the difference from m/wife weighing me last week!

The thing is, I thought I was doing reasonably ok-ish... but then on a hunch, I moved our bathroom scales into the kitchen where the floor isn't carpeted, and the dial instantly went up by 10lbs  Still, it wasn't horrendously hard to lose last time, so... *sigh*

Well I was over weight before I got pregnant so have about 3st of baby weight to lose and then another 3 after that :(

ive put on a stone so far.. cant stop eating junk tho.. nothing healthy has any taste to it :| .. xx

Do I double the totals for twins? I have been trying to figure out how much I should be gaining. I am on my 5th pregnancy, but this is the first twin pregnancy. My 4 children are all older and I had them in my early-mid 20s. I am now 34 and am trying to be cautious about weight gain. I am carrying the babies for a friend who has been unable to carry a child to term. She feels that I am not gaining enough weight. I have put on 33 pounds as of 6/6 and am 29 weeks along. I did have an extra 10 pounds on me when I started out. Its tough to know what healthy weight gain should be. Of course I also want to know how much I will have to lose at the end of the summer!

What if you are overweight to begin with. I have only gained 2 pounds. Does the same apply?

I was 11 stone before I got pregnant and 5 foot 2. I am now 14 stone 2 pounds and only 32 weeks..............you do the maths............. :-(

iv only gained 6lb yet she is 5lb 14oz how does that make sense
